I hate the FIRE movement. Yes, I said it! At its core, the FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early) helps people become more financially responsible. Furthermore, the FIRE movement today is trending towards an unhealthy extreme. I fully support pursuing FI (financial independence), but not FIRE. There are lots of FIRE bloggers spreading misinformation that could negatively impact someone’s life. It’s time to put a stop to it all.  ..read more

Tello review: best cheap mobile phone plan (free $10)

In this post, I will share my honest review of Tello Mobile as my phone plan, used with an unlocked iPhone. I’ve been using cheap phone plans for quite a few years now—started with a provider called Ting, before switching to Tello for the past 2 years. These cheap mobile providers are called MVNOs. They are basically a middle man. They buy network services from major network providers (e.g., Sprint), and then resell to individuals like us. Overall, I’m content with Tello. I will review Tello based on 4 factors:  Plan price Coverage Quality of phone service Quality of customer service F ..read more

Ellevest review: Not necessarily the best for women
Finance FTW

You might be familiar with online auto-investing platforms (or “roboadvisors”) such as Betterment or Wealthfront, what about Ellevest? Ellevest is an online investment advisory service that specifically markets to women. Their cheapest offering — at 0.25% in fees — is comparable to that of competitors. Intrigued by their “designed for women” claim, I did some digging to see if it’s something I should use myself.
