From managing an issue to deciding whether to allow an employee to take an extra 15 minutes for lunch, decisions are made continually. Most of the time, the decision-making process is seamless. A question occurs, facts are analyzed, and a choice is made.
Other times, the process is challenging, especially when the stakes are high and a consensus among individuals with differing agendas must occur. Having the COVID vaccine is one thing; persuading the public to get the vaccine is an entirely different matter.
A recent Pew Center study found only 29 percent of those surveyed said they would “definitely” get the COVID vaccine. When it comes to people of color, the outlook is even bleaker. An NAACP-sponsored study found that only 14 percent of black Americans surveyed said they would get the vaccine. While the reasons vary as to why most Americans are not yet confident they will get the vaccine, the solution is the same.

You need to communicate about the coronavirus. Your customers and stakeholders want to hear from you. They want to know what you are doing, that you are sensitive to the issue, and are putting the safety of your customers, employees, and the community first.
Yes, I know, they are already being bombarded by similar emails from every company and organization they have a relationship. This should not keep you from doing the same. It is a best practice. Not communicating makes you look like an outlier, and not in a good way.
