The New York Yankees dropped a tough one in extra innings, 1-0, to the Mariners to finish the series taking two out of three in the Emerald City. It was a game full of good pitching and defensive gems. Clarke Schmidt had his sharpest outing of the season, and he’s done well in his last three starts. The Yankees offense, which had exploded for 30 runs in its previous three games, was shut down by George Kirby for eight innings and only had three hits the entire game. They loaded the bases in the top of the 10th but couldn’t push a run across, and Cal Raleigh ended it in the bottom of the 10th w ..read more

The New York Yankees take the second game in Seattle 10-2 behind an okay start from Nestor Cortes and an offensive explosion led by Isaiah Kiner-Falefa’s four RBI. Aaron Judge hit another home run (of course) and Anthony Volpe hit a three-run shot. Cortes was fine but he was pulled after five when his pitch count hit 101. We discuss his issues so far in 2023 and wonder if he can turn things around. And speaking of that. Can Oswaldo Cabrera turn things around? We do a deep dive into his numbers and figure out what’s been his problem this season and compare this year to last year. Then we previe ..read more

The New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners, 10-4, on Monday night thanks to an offensive explosion led by Aaron Judge, Willie Calhoun, and Jake Bauers. Yep. Judge was doing Judge things, hitting two home runs, nearly hitting a third, and robbing Teoscar Hernandez of one late in the game. Jake Bauers had himself a good night hitting two doubles, and Harrison Bader hurt his hamstring, legging out a single in the third inning. He’s getting an MRI on Tuesday. Domingo German pitched okay in his first outing back from his 10-game suspension for a foreign substance violation. Ron Marinaccio came ..read more

The New York Yankees won the weekend series against the San Diego Padres. The big news on Sunday was Anthony Rizzo’s neck injury. Is it serious? Aaron Boone says no but Stacey and Steve don’t quite believe him. Losing Rizzo could be a big loss for the Yankees so let’s hope that doesn’t happen. They recap the rest of the series and briefly discuss Gerrit Cole’s up and down start on Sunday. Cole may want the calendar to change soon because May has been awful for him. It’s Minors Monday! Steve gets you caught up on Aaron Pelensky, Joel Valdez, Clayton Beeter and Hayden Merda and if you don’t know ..read more

The New York Yankees dropped their series to the Baltimore Orioles with a 3-1 loss on Thursday night. The offense couldn’t get anything going against Kyle Gibson who went seven innings and only gave up two hits. Clarke Schmidt pitched okay and was hurt by his defense and some shoddy umpiring causing him to throw more pitches than necessary. Speaking of the umpiring, Aaron Boone has had enough of it and got ejected for the fourth time this season and for the second time in the past two weeks. Is this a problem? We discuss. We answer your viewer questions for Fanmail Friday. You asked about reha ..read more

Last night's 7th inning was the WORST INNING of the Yankees season

The New York Yankees blew a 5-1 lead, and a combo of Nestor Cortes, Jimmy Cordero, and Albert Abreu gave up eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to give Baltimore a 9-5 lead, and they’d go on to win the game, 9-6. Stacey and Steve discuss the meltdown inning and wonder how it could have gone so wrong so quickly. The game had some positives, like Gleyber Torres’s two home run performance and IKF’s home run and triple, but the game turned into a clunker thanks to the pitching performances. Aaron Boone said that once Josh Donaldson comes back—he’s starting a rehab assignment this week—he’l ..read more

The New York Yankees won an exciting game on Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. They had to come back twice, down 4-0 and 5-4, to win 6-5 in 10 on an Anthony Volpe sac fly. Does Volpe have a chance to be in the running for Rookie of the Year? We discuss it. Plus, Gerrit Cole had a rough outing, and he surrendered two more home runs and nearly gave up a third. What’s going on with him? We discuss it and try to determine if/what Cole can do to change things. Aaron Judge had another clutch home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game and get it into extras, and now has 14 on the ..read more
