Review: Deicide – Banished By Sin
The Moshville Times

There aren’t many bands that can get away with the tagline “legendary”, but Deicide are one. For good reasons or bad (most of the latter relating to apocryphal news stories and word-of-mouth scuttlebutt), they’ve carved a niche of their own in the world of Satanic metal. They’ve also produced some damn fine music over the years, combining a message of pure hatred with some actually good tunes. Banished By Sin can be added to their catalogue as another example of how to make brutal music that is, for want of a better word, accessible. Some bands go too far into the extreme end of things for my ..read more

Album Review: Arð – Untouched By Fire
The Moshville Times
by Rick

The inventors of monastic doom present another stunning milestone on their fast-rising trajectory with their new album Untouched By Fire, which this time focuses on the warrior king Oswald (604–642), who forged Northumbria with fire and sword by uniting the kingdoms of Bernicia and Deira. Constructed of 6 insular doom pieces, the album begins with “Cursed to Nothing But Patience,” which is wonderfully woeful and, being just shy of the nine-and-a-half-minute mark, showcases the stronger dynamics that also pay homage to pioneers such as My Dying Bride. Follow-up “Name Bestowed” is gentle with a ..read more

The Moshville Times

Sorry. Just… sorry. An unexpected, unrehearsed excuse for an interview with two of metal’s most immature “members”. With a new video coming soon (don’t snigger at the back), which for some reason we’re premiering on Thursday, what better time to let them out of their bedrooms for ten minutes for a bit of daylight (and, God willing, a shower)? If you like what we do, consider joining us on Patreon for as little as £1 per month! It took him a while to convince me to sing again! I called Carl, who I’d known from the local scene, and Matt told Robin h ..read more

The Moshville Times

Rampant Brit hard-hitters Godeth are set to break through to the masses with their unstoppable new EP, The Path of Destruction, which arrives on Friday 26th April. We exclusively caught up with vocalist Miles Case-Watson and he offered this unique track by track breakdown of the EP: It could not be overstated just how frankly and vehemently I have poured the meanings apparent within myself into The Path of Destruction. This first EP release I have carried out with Godeth has been quite the foray into finding my feet as a musical artist and as a lyricist. When the instrumentals for these track ..read more

Classic Cover: Frozen Soul – “Creature of the Wheel” (original by White Zombie)
The Moshville Times

The weather may be warming up for spring, but there’s a bitter frost hanging in the air, courtesy of the death metal crew known as Frozen Soul. The band have shared their cover of White Zombie’s “Creature of the Wheel”. The visual certainly pays homage to the instantly familiar, DayGlo green aesthetic of White Zombie, while the band puts its uniquely shivery spin on the sonics. They comment: We wanted to cover a song outside of death metal that we could give justice to in our style and “Creature of the Wheel” felt perfect. We slowed it down and made it even heavier, all the while staying true ..read more
