Last night, I had a dream. A traveling evangelist had come to town. He could have been a guru, an inspirational speaker, or even an apostle from a proselytizing church. I met him in the lobby after the conference. I asked him if he would answer one of the four questions I had written on a sheet of paper because I was on a quest to understand the mysteries of life. He asked me how many hours I was willing to dedicate to his cause. I said I was willing to spend as many hours as he wanted me to. So he wrote down the answer to one of my questions on another piece of paper. And after he did that, h ..read more

Faith and Salvation: A Thought Experiment

In the liberal town halls, of freedom’s call, Where culture wars rage, and sinners fall, A democracy stands, a beacon’s light, And civil liberties, still shine bright. But the illiberal path is darker still, A state, where free will is often chilled, A church that rules, with dogma tight, And zealots must conform to, day or night. Freedom of speech, a distant hum, Freedom of press, a whispered drum, Protest and dissent, a silenced cry— Into the darkness, all truth goes dry. Then Jesus returns, with words so bold, “Unless you repent, you will perish cold”, To the Democrats, His victory call res ..read more

Who needs Democracy?

Who told the patriots, they could have liberty for all— without democracy? Was it the christian nationalists? I doubt it was the democrats. Who told the evangelicals, they could worship as they please— without democracy? Was it the christo-fascists? I doubt it was the atheists. Who told the citizens, they could win fair elections— without democracy? Was it the white supremacists? I doubt it was the minorities. And who told the conservatives, they could lose their country? The republicans have been free: 250 years, so how is it, that after all that winning— they’re victims, now? But now this is ..read more

From insincere lips, a myth is sown, It comes from Trump, and all of his drones, A rich man’s trial, a mock display of pain, Deceiving citizens is a wicked game. The justice system’s rigged, a trap for us all, Federal agencies weaponized, to see who will fall, Against the poor, with no resources to spare, A false equivalence, designed to ensnare. But truth reveals the fraud in plain sight, Trump’s innocence is not a poor man’s plight, He’s a rich man, with lawyers at his beck and call, A supreme treatment, for the one who has it all. The MAGA populists, with their lies and deceit, Gaslighting ..read more

The Purpose of Life, Two Perspectives: The Christian vs. the unbeliever

The Christian man, with a faith so bright, Strives to be God’s man, from morning ‘til night. He walks in obedience, with a heart so true, Even if he falters, he repents and turns back anew. To his Creator, he cries out in shame, And finds divine forgiveness in Jesus’ name. He’ll be made whole when he is resurrected, And all of his flaws will soon be perfected. But the unbeliever, with a heart so cold, Wants to be a man’s man, to have his story told. He tries to impress with his might and his fame, But when he falls, he swears, his father’s to blame. He rationalizes that nobody was created perf ..read more

The Weight of Immortality

Your plan is to quench the world’s desire, But you feel your resolve is not enough. What matters most is not what you think, But how you imagined divinity would come. For every god’s life is a wondrous journey, But when you stray from the sacred path: Your case for faith becomes forsaken, And your fears of mortality—undertaken. By: ElRoyPoet © 2024 Our Eternal Life – What Do Latter-day Saints Believe? “And I beheld a rod of iron, and it extended along the bank of the river, and led to the tree by which I stood. And I also beheld a strait and narrow path, which came along by the rod of iron, e ..read more

Shalom, my brothers and sisters

From the beginning of time, until the end of time, there will always be battles between good and evil. People will always have conflict, people will always be on the brink of war. I don’t want to carry that burden in my heart anymore, and it injures my soul, when I see the inhumanity in the eyes of man. That’s why we need to be saved, that’s why we need a Messiah. If the struggle is real, God is real, But if we conspire with the devil— to hate the sinner and not the sin— then there is no room in our hearts for a Savior. So what is the solution for our earthly existence? We must begin each day ..read more

Muslims, Jews and the rest of us: Live and let live.

“Why is it that if you’re Islamophobic, you can’t be anti-Semitic, and if you’re anti-Semitic, you can’t be Islamophobic? Why must you tolerate one and not the other? Why must you choose sides? I shouldn’t have to condone extremism; I can be a moderate. Doesn’t a mediator need to hear both sides of the story in order to find a compromise? Otherwise, how will we ever achieve peace in the Middle East if we keep attacking whoever the majority leaders’ opinion deem to be the target of their rage? Can’t you see that all you’re doing is perpetuating the conflict? I don’t choose to hate; I choose to ..read more

Protest: We don’t want war anymore

We should applaud our young people, For protesting Israel’s unholy war. We don’t hate Jews, we don’t hate Muslims, But pain and suffering, we do abhor. Whether we send soldiers or bombs, The inhumanity remains the same. Killing innocent civilians is a war crime, No matter who or what’s to blame. We do not protest giving them aid, To ensure that democracy will endure. But funding a genocide in Palestine, Nobody signs up for that, I’m sure. If America loves its young people, Why deny Gaza’s children the same? Let’s support peace in the Middle East, And stand before God without blame. By: ElRoyPo ..read more
