While some Jets fans have taken the time in recent weeks to pre-emptively voice their future displeasure should the Jets pass on an offensive tackle with the tenth pick in the NFL draft, it’s worth noting that there are still some viable depth options available in free agency.

The Jets have retained one of their own as free agent safety Ashtyn Davis has inked a 1-year deal to remain in New York. Davis, a 2020 third-round draft choice (68th overall) had his best season as a pro in 2023. The story was first reported by NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

We’ll know exactly what the New York Jets plan on doing with the tenth overall pick in the NFL draft two weeks from today, but as of now it seems the forecasters and prognosticators have a favorite pairing in Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
In their latest mock drafts, Mel Kiper of ESPN and Shrine Bowl director Eric Galko both project Bowers to the Jets at 10. In addition to Kiper and Galko, former Vikings GM Rick Spielman lists Bowers as his top tight end in this class and says his ideal fit would be to the Jets with pick number ten.
