Both courses continue to be in great shape as we head into the final weeks of winter. Transition issues look to be minimal as turf health and coverage is in excellent condition for the most part. All turf areas have been somewhat dormant for the past few weeks which has allowed our crew to knock out some much needed projects. Member Course: Member Drive to Range Tee: This is one of those first impression areas on property that I have always felt never was up to our standards. This past week we have cleaned up this area removing several dead and trash (chinese tallow, sweet gum, hackberry) tr ..read more

We continue to experience excellent playing surfaces for this time of year. Fairways are firm and green speeds are slick. With the turf somewhat dormant, this allows us to knock out several projects as you will see below. Member Course Area Behind #1 Green- Project is complete and cart path is open finally. Clubhouse Area- Several concrete projects performed around the clubhouse. New pad poured at Member access area by cart barn and new curbing installed around landscaping and circle beds. Course Drain Basin Work- We have completed all drain catch basin repairs on the course. A total o ..read more

Cooler temperatures the last couple weeks have got both courses looking great and playing fast and firm. This week we experienced our first frost of the season and as a result some really good definition from roughs and shortgrass areas. MEMBER COURSE Turf on greens, tees, and fairways look really good as we are finally seeing cooler temperatures helping slow down growth. Our pigment applications on fairways have diminished a bit but still give us a good definition from roughs. However, we are due for reapplication and that is happening Monday weather permitting. Area Behind #1 Green- Drain ..read more

Turf conditions are healthy and continue to perform well. Typically we are somewhat dormant this time of year requiring minimal mowing, however that is not the case this year as we’ve experienced record high temperatures on several occasions. We have yet to see our first frost of the season, normally witnessed the first or second week of November. As a result we are mowing tees, fairways and greens as if we’re in the middle of the growing season. Greens Speeds Over the past couple weeks there has been some grumbling as a result of slower than normal green speeds. I’ll do my best to explain th ..read more

It’s been a couple of weeks since our last post. In that time, the crew continues to provide an exceptional product for membership and their guests. All playing surfaces continue to perform well as we continue to see a tremendous amount of play. Member Course No Mow Areas- All of these areas have been seeded with an annual rye which will provide an excellent color contrast against the dormant bermuda for the winter. Storm Clean up- Since our last blog we’ve had two severe storms that came through dumping about an inch each time along with strong winds. Dead Tree Removal- Over the past ..read more

Sunrise looking from 17 to 12 Member Course Since last Friday we received just over 2 inches of rain. However, both courses have dried out fairly quickly as a result of 30-40 mph winds Thursday. Several trees were blown over Thursday and will be cleaned up and removed in the next week. There is also quite a bit of debris on the Member Course that we are in the process of cleaning up and this will continue for the next couple of days. Next week, much of our efforts will be focused on getting both courses fine tuned for this years Member/Guest. Both courses should be in great shape if the weathe ..read more

MEMBER COURSE The Member Course continues to be in good shape. Greens, tees, and fairways look really good as we enter the prime golfing season. The bunkers have been washed out by several major rain events, but we have finally got them all put back together and in good shape. Greens are in terrific condition and are producing speeds in our target range of 10.5-11 foot. Range Tee- The member range tee was overseeded on Oct. 19th and will remain closed until Nov. 4th. This winter overseed will provide you and your guest with excellent hitting surfaces throughout the winter months. Leaf Debris ..read more

Rain Rain….No Mas, No Mas

Over the past month, several crew members have formed webbed feet. In all seriousness, the past month has been just ridiculous with the amount of rainfall. For the month of May, we received just shy of 17″ and for the first three days in June we are at 3″. Course conditions still remain good however as we were able to get everything mowed out the two or three days it didn’t rain too much. Bunkers are another story though as we have repaired the 128 bunkers on property twice, but are washed out currently. Bunkers will remain “ground under repair” until rain chances drop and we can get them fix ..read more

Recovery Continues….Slowly

Overall conditions on both courses remain very good. There are a few greens that will require some sod work as a result of the freeze, but overall we are pretty fortunate to only having to deal with those select areas. I’m going to give the greens until the middle of May, and if it looks like no recovery is being made in those areas we will go ahead and pull the trigger on sodding. On the Member Course, we only have two areas of concern that will probably require sod and that’s on the front right of #1 and right side of #2, sod will be utilized off the putting green by 10 tee box. On the Tour ..read more

Freeze Recovery Continues…

We are a month post arctic blast and both courses continue to make great strides. The crew has been working long hours during the recovery effort and we feel really good where we are at this point. Our main concern with this storm was obviously the greens and how they would respond to the low temperatures. I must say we are pretty excited with what we are seeing. The member greens have nearly recovered to pre-freeze conditions and look really good going into the spring. The Tournament greens have not recovered quite as well as the member greens as we have some thin areas on north facing slope ..read more
