Over the years, many friends have asked me where I normally get my news. For many years, I often watched and read Fox News, but they are not the same anymore. There are still good people there but their agenda is different than it was many years ago.  Nowadays, I normally get my first taste of news in the morning, from an excellent source… To finish reading this article, click here ..read more

Pope Francis reads TomPerna.org

After years of embracing unorthodox Jesuit theology, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known as Pope Francis, stated in a closed meeting, where he was the only one present, that he reads TomPerna.org for sound orthodox theology. He particularly noted that the series – “Mondays with Mary” made a huge impact on his understanding of Mariology. The Supreme Pontiff went on to say that although Tom Perna was first educated by Jesuits, they were orthodox Jesuits in line with the 2000-year-old tradition of the Catholic Church. He thanked Fr. Joseph Fessio, S.J., and the St. Ignatius Institute for providing Tom w ..read more

Last August, as I began working on my contract position from home, I started researching podcasts I could listen to as I did my work. I stumbled upon an engaging and catechetical podcast titled – The Exorcist Files. The podcast covers the real-life case files of Catholic exorcist Fr. Carlos Martins. After listening to the first episode, I binge-listened this podcast in only 4 days. It was so good. I could not get enough. To read the rest of this article on Catholic365.com, click here ..read more

There are Blessings in the Potholes of Life

After enduring unemployment for nine months in 2020, I am in the same situation again. On June 1, my former employer and I parted ways. It was not my choice. For the last three months, I have been applying for positions in North Dakota and remote. I have had interviews but no job offers. I am grateful for our friends because many have invested in our family’s well-being. They keep sending me jobs, checking in, and doing what they can to keep us here. This unemployment is different because I have a remote position doing data entry. It’s a contract position that will end in a couple of months.&n ..read more

A Morning With The Maronite Monks Of Adoration

On Sunday, May 7, while on vacation with my family in Massachusetts, we decided to go to Mass at Most Holy Trinity Monastery, home to the Maronite Monks of Adoration. We were in Massachusetts to visit my wife’s sister and her family. She and her husband are Godparents to our first-born son. It was a trip we had planned for months. It came at a great time for me. My wife’s family has a long history with the Maronite Monks. As a family, they would attend Mass nearly every Sunday with the monks. My wife remembers time with the monks at their monastery in the Black Hills of South Dakota with great ..read more

12 Quotes from the Saints on the Holy Eucharist

Today, in the Western lung of the Catholic Church, we celebrate the great Solemnity of Corpus Christi – the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We commemorate the great sacrament of the Holy Eucharist which Jesus Christ gave us the night before he died during the Last Supper with the Apostles. The Holy Eucharist is the Sacrament of all sacraments! Quoting from Lumen Gentium 11, the Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324 states, “The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life.’ ‘The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostol ..read more

Father’s Day is quickly approaching. If you have a dad, a husband, a grandfather, or a son, that will celebrate this day and they are into smoking cigars, I would encourage you to check out Regina Cigars. The goal of Regina Cigars is twofold – first, they are seeking to bring attention to orphans that live in cigar-producing countries, and second, they want to produce crafted cigars with blends from around the globe. To learn more about Regina Cigars, click on their mission page.   Smoking cigars socially is something I have been doing for many years. Over the last 10 years, my social smo ..read more

June – The Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

As Catholics, we are called not to follow and embrace the culture of our time, but we must always strive to be counter-cultural. When we are faced with opposition that seems too much to bear and overcome, it is then that we strap on the Armor of God. With Our Lord behind us and 2000 years of unbroken tradition from the Catholic Church, we can have the fortitude we need to combat an aggressive anti-Catholic culture. This is no truer than in the month of June. Contrary to popular belief in our post-modern culture, June is not Pride month, but June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. To co ..read more

The Road to Emmaus will lead you to study the Sacred Scriptures
Tom Prerna

Last Sunday, we heard the third Resurrection account for this Easter season from Luke 24:13-25, famously known as The Road to Emmaus. Out of the many scriptures that I love to read, this is one of my all-time favorites. It was the scripture verse that first led me into studying the scriptures in parish bible studies and what eventually led me to study Theology and the Holy Scriptures at Franciscan University of Steubenville. My love for this scripture verse became so prominent in my life after graduate school that when I use to teach Introduction to Revelation (Sacred Scripture and Sacred Trad ..read more
