tldr before storytime: had a aggressive physical interaction with Mountain Security at Vail Closing Day, and wondering if it's something that is even a gross overstep of employee policy and should be raised to them?
I was over at Vail Closing Day this past Sunday, which is kind of a big organic party event at the summit. Pretty large gathering (1000+ people) at the summit, just general party/music/etc. Usually well-monitored by ski patrol and even sheriff's deputies (understandable for the sheer amount of people and drinking). At 4pm the mountain closes, they blow these airhorns and everyone ..read more

Hey everyone, next season will be my second season skiing and I’d really like to shore up some of the weak aspects of my skiing by doing a multi-day camp. Does anyone have any recommendations in Colorado or potential Utah?
Thanks!

Hi, these two skis seem to have similar dimensions. The core material is different (Deacon 7.2 seems to be wood) while X is composite. Are both the equivalent entry level ski for beginners that’s for different markets / redesigned? Does anyone know?

Hit it just right. The combination of the weather and the terrain made for an incredible spring day at my favorite mountain. So clear you could see Katahdin! None of that Spring mashed. HS10 put on the bases the night before and I was golden. Despite the shitty winter I was fortunate to have a lot of great days this season.

I've been skiing for pretty much my whole life, but now that I'm done growing I looking into buying myself new gear. I've already found skis, bindings, and poles that I like but I'm not sure what are the best boots to get. To me, the boots are the most important part and I really want to make sure I buy a pair that I'm happy with. I'm a fairly advanced skier, and typically I like to go down the mountain fast and do some carving, and occasionally I'll do some big terrain stuff. What pair of boots are the best for this?

Weather looks like there will be a week of high temps 48/52 and lows 28/32 prior to ski date
This will be my first time there and I’m trying to take my buddy out west for his first time. I remember quitting after two runs one time at Big Sky cause it was 58, sunny, and the snow turned to Velcro, though it is considerably lower elevation than Arapahoe.
Is that what I’m up against here?
TIA

I made the best skier on the mountain post and cannot believe how it blew up. I know I’m not the best skier on the mountain. I am pretty good but not the best. I tried making this post once before but it didn’t gain traction . I laugh and have fun when I see people make mention of it but it’s just bizarre to me that it has come to this. And for the record, I’m 100% serious. I’m the dude who made the post. I made the post not to say I’m the best skier on the mountain but to get folks opinions on how I could get on with a race team. I love going fast as hell and thought maybe I still have a cha ..read more

Have kind of a unique situation. Wear a size 16 shoe and dont live in a ski town. Any suggestions on how to get in contact with a bootfitter that can help me? I have tried walking into a few shops while on vacation but they did not have anything in my size (probably about 31.5-32.5). I currently have a “beginner”high volume boot in a 32.5 that is the correct length and width but has too much volume and not high enough flex. Was thinking worst case i could at least find a place that would work with me virtually to try to determine a base boot to start with and then can go either there or elsew ..read more
