Glam After 40

So the problem with losing a little weight is that more stuff is starting to fit me. I can go into Marshalls and find a bunch of clothes that actually fit and look nice and next thing you know, my wallet is $120 lighter! But I was overdue for a shopping trip. A lot of my clothes are starting to get sort of baggy so I let myself splurge a bit. My clothing hauls are funny because it’s like 10 variations of black shirts! I like what I like! The drape-y neck top above was comfy and is one of those shirts that can be good for night or day. Score! This top below has little sparkly rhinestone thin ..read more

Why Do I Bother Spending Money on Fancy Perfume?

Choco Musk - 6ml (.2 oz) Perfume Oil by Al-Rehab Al-Rehab (Crown Perfumes) I probably have thousands of dollars of perfume at home. Even though my sense of smell is so weak, I am obsessed with trying new perfumes and by try I mean buying full bottles that I use a few times and then they sit on my shelf. I literally just bought a $200+ Guerlain perfume that is nice, but nothing gets me compliments like my $5 Choco Musk. It happened yet again today. I was in a meeting and one guy sniffed the air and said, “Oh, that smells go ..read more

Product Review: Mighty Spark Turkey Burgers - Good Eats That Help Others Eat
Glam After 40

When I went to the store this past Sunday to get my turkey burgers, I didn’t like the dates on them (too close to sell by date) so I had to look for other options. Besides a giant family pack of like 1 million turkey burgers, they had Mighty Spark Queso Fresco Jalapeño and Bacon Bursting Turkey Patties. I hesitated for a moment because they were more expensive - about $5 for a two-pack (the regular turkey burger patties are 4 for that price), but they did look really good and I had my heart set on turkey burgers for during the week. I cooked them up on my George Foreman grill. The Bacon Burst ..read more

Oh Lordy: The Kill My Cake This Way Workout!
Glam After 40

This ridiculously named workout is just me smooshing the songs I worked out to into one! This was one of my favorite playlists - the tempo was great, the music was great, and the songs kept me motivated. Most of all, it was so fun! So much fun, I’m contemplating filming a “Tread with Me” workout. YouTube would probably block all the music so I’d have to figure that part out, but in the meantime, you can do the workout on your own. Here’s the songs! Warmup: 3.0 to 3.8 setting Jog (or fast walk) at 4.0 to 4.5 Jog 4.0 to 45 Slower jog or fast walk 4.0 Cool down walk 3.5 ..read more

Recipe: My Tuna Salad Supreme
Glam After 40

I’ve been eating tuna salad all week as my easy, no cook dinner. It’s fast, it’s cheap, and it tastes good. Now, my tuna salad may not be for everyone. I put a lot of wacky shit in it so feel free to just use this recipe as a guide and leave out stuff you don’t like or add stuff you do! I don’t know why or when I started putting curry powder on my tuna, but I miss it when I don’t do it. Sometimes I add cheese, sometimes I don’t so that’s up to you! I only eat albacore tuna these days. The flavor is better to me. Yes, it’s more expensive, so feel free to use light tuna instead! 1 packet albac ..read more

The Easiest Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Glam After 40

Ok, first, how funny is it that I always want to write Brussel Sprouts (and I bet you say it like that, too!). Second, I was that weird kid that always liked Brussels sprouts, even when I was little. I don’t even think we had good ones growing up - probably just the frozen kind that came in that solid brick of Brussels. I’ve grown up and expanded my Brussels horizons to the fresh produce section and I still love them. My sister makes amazing Brussels sprouts with Balsamic vinegar, which are the bomb (don’t ask me for the recipe, I don’t even know….she just throws shit together and not even pa ..read more

I'm Loving These GG Crackers!
Glam After 40

I first saw these GG Scandinavian Fiber Crackers on The Skinny Confidential. After seeing Lauren rave about them, I had to try them! They have 2 g net carbs and 20 calories per cracker. They’re made of wheat bran, whole grain rye flour, and salt. Listen, these aren’t crackers you’re going to sit and munch away on while watching Bachelor in Paradise. They’re hard and you can tell they are packed full of fiber. Alone, they probably taste like eating cardboard or a piece of bark. But topped with cream cheese and some everything bagel seasoning? OMG…I’m in love. This is my new snack! They’re a l ..read more

My New Holy Grail Lash Primer and Mascara
Glam After 40

Years ago, I had this double ended mascara that had a white primer on one side and mascara on the other and I loved it to death…and then it ran out. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I guess they stopped making it. I tried a bunch of other mascaras, but wasn’t happy with any of them because they just didn’t give me the big lash look I loved. I read about L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise online and decided to give it a try. While looking up info about Lash Paradise, I found the primer, which comes in “Millennial Pink”. Both had gotten great reviews and this looked close to my old primer/mascara duo ..read more

Got A Fuzzy Jacket for Fall
Glam After 40

I have been stalking this Time and Tru fuzzy jacket from Walmart ($19) for a while now ever since I saw it on The Budget Babe Instagram. It was sold out online and I didn’t see the cream color in store. I had given up and was considering paying double for one from elsewhere. Imagine my surprise when my Walmart had TONS of them this weekend. It’s super cozy and warm. It will be great for fall when it’s just starting to get cooler, but you still need some kind of jacket. I paired it with my No Boundaries Skinny Jeans and leopard boots from Target ..read more

All Hail The LBT!
Glam After 40

Everybody knows the LBD - the little black dress - but what about the LBT? The Little Black Top is just as essential, especially if you’re looking for an outfit that can go from day to night. Pictured above are four different black tops I wore while on vacation in Atlantic City. The first two looks were more casual while the last two were for nights out. And yes, the first and last looks are different tops - one has sleeves and the other doesn’t! I paired the casual tops with mid-length jean shorts and the dressier tops paired with longer, curve-hugging knee-length shorts. The Shade & Sh ..read more
