Winter Track With a healthy balance of seasoned athletes and newcomers to the sport, both the boys’ and girls’ winter track teams enjoyed successful seasons that included a number of strong individual performances. Valerie Portuphy won the triple jump in the conference championships and also won the long jump in the Passaic County championships. Sharyn Thomas placed third at the conference championships and fourth at the state championships in the shot put. Nehemiah 3 details the biblical story of how individuals split the workload, and together built a wall. In this vein of thinking, Eastern Christian School administrators unveiled a Nehemiah “mini-grant” program last spring, which invited staff members to pitch their ideas. The desire was that through this initiative, school administrators could better equip our staff to build their sections of the wall.  In the end, four staff proposals were accepted and approved for funding. Eastern Christian High School was first accredited in 1923 and has maintained accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA-CESS). In 2011 the entire Eastern Christian School system was accredited by MSA-CESS. Beginning in 2024, we will continue our MSA-CESS accreditation and will be adding a Christian Schools International joint accreditation.  The accreditation team began work in October 2022. Congratulations to all our fall athletes and teams!    Boys V Soccer The boys varsity soccer team proved that hard work in the off-season pays off, providing many memorable performances on our beautiful new turf field. When healthy and at full strength, this group played an attractive and effective brand of soccer as evidenced by the 5-game win streak in the middle of the season when they outscored opponents 22-6. Despite the weather not cooperating for our community picnic on Saturday, HomEComing weekend was full of EC spirit!  The gorgeous fall weather on Friday made for the perfect day for EC’s Alumni Golf Outing at Wallkill Golf Club and our multiple events at the high school campus. The festivities kicked off with welcoming donors, administration, staff, parents, and student athletes to the new track and field dedication, complete with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
