The Impact of Stress
Last week I shared my experience with clinical depression. What I learned through that experience was the impact that stress can have when left unmanaged.
I didn’t understand all those years ago what stress was, or the negative way it could affect me, but in the years since I have educated myself and am constantly working on setting boundaries to control the amount of negative stress I allow into my life.
But, not all stress is bad.
So, what is stress? Webster says : “a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension ..read more

I knew something was wrong when I was finding it harder and harder to get out of bed to take care of my 2 and 3 year old.
My family doctor had run an array of tests (ct scan, mri, tube down the stomach, ekg, bloodwork) and they all came back normal.
She did note that I was losing too much weight. By this point, I was not really eating much and when I was, wasn’t able to keep it down.
What’s happening to me?
On the morning that my 2 year old came to my bed and told me she had to go potty and I told her to “just go” …..and she did, all over my floor….. and I still couldn ..read more

Gut Health
When I started my weight loss transformation, I signed up with a company that had been around for years and had a proven track record (they’re growing so fast they can’t keep up with supply right now).
If you are interested in what I did, you can find out more about the program I now partner with, Optavia, here. I’m happy to answer any questions too.
Along with the box of food I received when I signed up, I received two books that have become instrumental in educating me on the importance of all things health related (a lot of it went pretty in depth, if you interested) and ga ..read more

The importance of your gut health
I did not realize the true importance of the gut in our overall health and wellbeing.
Over 2000 years ago, Hippocrates said, “All disease begins in the gut.” He knew it way back then and we are just coming around to understanding how important it is in our lives now.
About 60-80% of our immune system is found in our gut. The gut is literally the center of our health.
So, it would make logical sense to protect it and treat it with utmost respect, wouldn’t it?
But many don’t and don’t even realize that they’re hurting themselv ..read more

Can you believe that we are coming up on the ONE YEAR anniversary when we were all affected by COVID-19 in one way or another??
In March of 2020…..
I was planning a conference with a couple of women for midlife online businesses and influencers. We had to make the decision to cancel the conference that was coming in March.
My daughter went out to visit her brother and his wife in a different state in March 2020 and got stuck out there when later that week everything got shut down regarding travel! All worked out and she was able to work remotely and has decided to stay permanently now.

Last year I decided to get serious about starting a health and wellness journey.
Up until my late 40’s, I had considered myself healthy. I was weighing in at the lower end of the CDC guideline for my height and my BP was consistently around 120/74. I had the energy to go from morning to night without 4 cups of coffee to get me through it.
I ate what I wanted, got in my exercise, worked and ran the household.
BUT around the age of 45 things changed.
I had moved into a new stage of life where my kids didn’t need me as much, I became restless and shall I say a little bored??

Studies have shown that when we take the time to write down our goals, we are much more likely to accomplish them.
Write down those goals
If you’re now in your 2nd Act, you may find yourself in an empty nest or facing an empty nest.
Maybe you’ve diligently saved so that you can retire and spend more time doing things you want to do, rather than have to do. Maybe you’re not ready to completely retire and want to continue to earn an income, but doing something different then what you’ve done in your 1st Act.
When you look back at your 1st Act, can you see where there were opportunities that y ..read more

Focus on what you want
What you focus on grows. I genuinely believe that. Do you?
I want to have a growth mindset and I bet you do too. We get to decide what our mindset is. If we find it is not working for us, we can change it.
The other day, I woke up with a phrase in my head. I had to write it down and then research it because I had no idea why it was on my mind. The words were….
“We bring about what we think about”.
Think about what you’re thinking about
Then I had to stop and think about what I had been thinking about lately…lol! I ..read more
