Inktober was started by Jake Parker (Google it, Google him!). Anyway, he wanted to encourage artists to establish and commit to a daily art practice. He suggests 15 minutes each day and provides prompts. Many groups and clubs have jumped on this bandwagon…including many zentangle groups. There are now many lists available to follow prompts. I decided for myself that I was going to participate in Inktober but that I was 1. gonna use a one page spread instead of doing daily tiles. And 2. I was gonna do multiple – three to be exact – Inktober pages at the same time. Why not? Today’s patter ..read more

Labor Day! No work on a Monday. I decided to spend it doing something I enjoy. I made this mandala from a template I cut out – like we used to make snowflakes as children. It took me several hours but I didn’t care because I had no place to go. I thought I was gonna color it but I have a feeling I’d ruin it so I won’t be doing that. However, I do intend to digitize this and make a coloring page from it. The post 9-2-19 Zentangle appeared first on Bargain Shopping With Designer Row ..read more

I completed the Flux practice page from The Art of Zentangle book. Took a couple of hours but I love it. Used purple and brown microns for this. And then I went to start what I thought was Inktober. But, as you probably guessed, that doesn’t start til October. That aside, I do like how this tile turned out. I don’t normally color my tiles but I gave it a shot and am pleased with the result. I did what are known as “dingbatz” in the world of zentangle. You’re supposed t use the tangle “mooka” and also break the barrier. The “mooka” is the rounded ends on the letters. I think they turned out well. I was pleased with them. I mailed the “J” to my mom and I made the “R” for myself. Some of the tangles I used include: Cadent Leaf Explosion by Samantha Mitterer Miander by Mimi Lempart, CZT Making Waves by Karen Sisson Stipple Mooka Speaking of zentangle, I did my first focus study in the Zentangle Tips Facebook group. How it works is the group administrator chooses a tangle. Then you ..read more

I’m still playing with my wood burning tool. Well, technically I guess it’s working but it’s so fun I think of it as playing. I ordered these from Amazon and I thought they were the same as the last two orders but they weren’t. They’re larger! 3 7/8″ Round and 1/8″ thick. I absolutely love them! I went with tangles that I enjoy and that I’m fairly comfortable with drawing – Dragonaire and Phil Agrees. I made 3 sets. If interested they can be bought on #Etsy Excited to share this item from my #etsy shop: Set of 4 Wood Burned Cork Coasters The post Check Out My Newest Etched Coasters! appeared ..read more
