Home to the Dutch Royal family, The Hague is also a town where you'll find some of the best museums in the Netherlands. After being to its star, the Mauritshuis several times, and exploring some of its great cultural venues, like the Kunstmuseum and Escher in het Palais in the past, a few days ago I took a trip to The Hague in search of some new museums to explore in The Hague. And let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed. Quite the contrary, I found some of the best museums to visit in The Hague. The Monastery of Saint Andrew of Ancede in Baião was one of my favourite places to explore alongside the Rota do Romanico in Portugal. Located on a scenic hill overlooking the Douro River valley, it's a place witnessing centuries of history. The monastery is no longer inhabited by monks. However, today, it's home to a lovely museum and visitors centre worth exploring. The post Monastery of Saint Andrew of Ancede in Baião appeared first on Culture tourist ..read more

Last week, I travelled back in time alongside the Romanesque route (Rota do Romanico) in northern Portugal. It's a cultural route that takes you on an astonishing journey back to the Middle Ages and the time when the first pan-European style, the Romanesque, appeared. The route covers an area of 2000 square kilometres and consists of 58 sites, including monasteries, churches, castles, bridges, and other beautiful monuments.
