September marks Blood Cancer Awareness Month. In recognition of this, we are proud to present some of our research on blood cancer that has been published within the open access oncology journal portfolio. Blood cancer encompasses many different hematological disorders that affect the blood, bone marrow and/or lymphatic system. The different types of blood cancer can be grouped into the following categories: leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. AC: I lost my mom to a short and brutal fight with lung cancer, and this poem came out about four months after her passing. Cancer May 2019 BY AIDA CAVALIC Aida Cavalic Aida Cavalic was born in Banja Luka in then-Yugoslavia. She and her family arrived to the United States as refugees, settling in Massachusetts. Aida graduated from Wellesley College and went on to pursue an MA in economics in Brussels, followed by an MA in nationalism studies in Budapest. By day, Aida is a financial analyst, because she didn’t think she could make a living writing fiction and poetry.
