Last October, I upgraded from my old Surface Go to the Surface Go 4, and I shared my initial thoughts on Microsoft’s latest small Windows tablet. Since then, I’ve received numerous questions about the Surface Go 4, prompting me to create this update video to keep you in the loop on my experience with the device. I’ve been using the Surface Go 4 extensively in meetings with OneNote and the pen. It has become my go-to for evening browsing, drafting blog posts, and watching videos. Surprisingly, it handles music apps exceptionally well—I’ve been running both Korg Opsix Native and Korg Electribe ..read more

At last week’s Surface and AI event, Microsoft announced updated Surfaces, but they didn’t talk about the new Surface Go 4. However, they did release an updated Surface Go. The Surface Go 4 is Microsoft’s smallest Surface device with a 10.5-inch display, kickstand, and removable keyboard. I have the original Surface Go, and I use it for taking notes in meetings, catching up on social media, and occasional blogging. I find its small size and 521g weight very handy for carrying around and it’s a very versatile device. My original Surface Go has a few issues and is getting long in the tooth now ..read more

Here is one simple solution to fix a dead Microsoft Surface keyboard problem

Recently my Surface Go keyboard stopped working. The keyboard and trackpad stopped working completely and the only sign of life was a brief flash of the caps lock light when I connected it but that was it. I tried the fix that I wrote about a few years ago which involves going into the BIOS but that didn’t work this time. I tried reinstalling drives, going in and out of the BIOS and nothing worked. Then someone posted a saying to try draining the battery and have to say I was skeptical. But I tried it, completely drained the battery, and then rebooted and to my surprise the keyboard and track ..read more

How well does Korg’s Modwave Native software work on a Windows touch laptop?

In this video I try out Korg’s Modwave Native software on a Surface Laptop Studio to see how well the virtual instrument works on a Windows touch device. The ModWave native is a virtual version of the Korg ModWave which is hands on synth with multiple controllers and the touch KAOSS pad. In the video I see how well touch works on the Modwave Native and how you can control the KAOSS pad and controls like envelopes and wave selection. You can use it as a VST or standalone. Normally I used it as a VST in Cubase but for this demo I used it in standalone mode. Korg’s Modwave native costs $199 fro ..read more

Microsoft has finally started the rollout of Android 12L for the Microsoft Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2. The updates comes in at 3.20GB which is considerably bigger than the small minor updates we have seen recently. Android 12L is designed for foldable devices like the Surface Duo and features a good amount of Microsoft customisation, with the look and feel of Windows 11. There are many areas of the OS that have been improved including updated notification, quick actions and built in apps. Look out for my hands on video soon ..read more
