The fact is that we don't achieve much without using someone's personal data. We sometimes overlook the fact that every interaction with an individual or transaction requires us to process personal information. A psychologist or psychotherapist is no different. In fact, this expertise often involves processing the most sensitive of personal data and therefore, understanding the obligation these laws represent will underpin your everyday work. Since 2018 and the enactment of GDPR there have been hundreds of court cases, a multitude of official guidance and much commentary about these laws and ..read more

Becky created her vision board privately with me online. A year later she reports on the “Never ever underestimate the power of manifestation” Almost a year ago I created a vision board with the amazing Mary Nondé during a workshop. That vision board sits in my office at home. Recently I’ve been blown away by the fact that most of the photos I placed on my vision board have become a reality! “Tonight, as I write this, I was swimming in a river in France” It felt familiar.I was suddenly reminded of a picture I had placed on my vision board. Of a still river similar to the one I was swimming in ..read more

It recently occurred to me that although I may not always indulge in specific 'self care' activities or have designated 'me time', there are everyday things that I do that bring me moments of joy. Some are the usual suspects whereas others I hadn't even realised brought me joy until I spent some time thinking about it. Of course self care is important and it is so good that we now see it as an essential, but with anything that becomes a 'must do' particularly when it involves maintaining our wellbeing, if we are not necessarily feeling in the best place it can be easy to feel excluded, especi ..read more

Can hypnotherapy really help me quit smoking for good?

Image by Mathew MacQuarrie It was 2001 and, as I packed my tax-fee car, ready for the journey that was my posting from Germany to Northern Ireland, I had just my rucksack to fill before setting off. In it I would put my bottle of water, an assortment of sweets and chocolate… and a shiny sealed block of 200 cigarettes – bought for a fraction of the UK retail price, and fresh from my NATO tour of Kosovo two days earlier. Fast forward a few days and finishing my final ‘fag’ before breaking the seal on my 200 pack, I contemplated how long I might last if I left it unopened on the top shelf of my ..read more

Our Believe Project supports mums at risk of child removal. This project has been running for the last 5 years. I developed the project after working in the homeless sector as a support worker and counsellor for many years. I came to the realisation that there was very little support for a mum who was at risk of having their child removed from their care. We are in the final few months of an academic evaluation which has been carried out by Chester University which is showing a positive impact. For the past 3 years we have been working with Chester University who have been interviewing partic ..read more

As we and our situations are all unique there will never be a one size fits all, however it good to try new things. Here are my top 5 activities that proved successful for us. 1. Calming Glitter Jar This was not only a wonderful activity that we ..read more

Quick question, does anyone feel stuck? It can be regarding anything. Stuck with your job? Your lack of your job? Your partner? Not having a partner? Or maybe something within?
