Maang Tikka is a traditional Indian head accessory which was traditionally worn for the first time by a bride on her wedding day. It is essentially a centrepiece that is hooked on to the hairdo with a chain. Placed on the centre parting, the chain ensures that the drop pendant gracefully sits on her forehead. However, now this is worn in a fashionable/trendy manner and no longer just as a traditional piece. With changing times the traditional piece has been given a new and different look for sure !!I for one being a Tree of Life addict, had to try creating a Tree of Life Maang Tikka. Then I ..read more

With Christmas around the corner I thought I could create something with colours related to Christmas. So came up this idea of a DIY easy pen stand. The materials used is a tin can (used condensed milk can), chart paper both for covering the can on the outside as well the inside, some ribbons ( they can be any colour combination), permanent glue and a few beads. I used the red chart paper to cover up the can an the green to cover the inside. The golden ribbon was cut out in shapes of petals (I used a total of six). Folded them length wise in half and again folded them i ..read more

Well I am not really a cooking person but with a family with a rather sweet tooth :).  I have now  started enjoying experimenting with desserts. My two elder sisters are excellent cooks, I ended up as food taster when I was young! I did not mind trying out such awesome cooking. My eldest sister who we call 'Baidew' (Assamese word for elder sister) I still remain a big fan of her desserts even now. I do not like spending too much time in the kitchen so my recipes are really easy and quick to make. I wanted to dedicate this post to Baidew for introducing me to the world of desserts and this ..read more

Here I am after almost 2 and 1/2 years still trying to settle down. The girls are growing way to fast. At times it's a lonely feeling here and at times you feel just fine..mixed feelin ..read more

After a very long time we make a road trip!!During our Easter vacations we drove down from Sydney to Melbourne in Victoria to be with our friends from Muscat days. We lost a lot of time in traffic as we started out from Sydney...much later than we planned (that's typical me..last minute packing and rushing around :)) What beautiful views as we drove and my phone was busy all the time...click..click...click... This is definitely the easiest and healthiest breakfast and a favourite with my family. By now whoever has read my recipes must be aware that I always like the fast forward kinds where the lazy me is not tortured by being in the kitchen for too long :) I have really started to enjoy chia seeds filled with goodness!! They are an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which help to raise HDL(the "good" cholesterol that protects against heart attack and stroke) cholesterol. Chia seeds also are rich in antioxidants, and they provide fibre, iron and calcium. Indeed they look a little strange spe ..read more
