Getting out of a spiritual funk

I have to be honest, because we all know social media is doctored to make everyone on the outside feel like you’re a ray of sunshine on the inside. That you have (some things if not everything) all together and that even…your walk with God is always purposeful. WRONG! It’s all wrong. So…here goes… I have been in a spiritual funk lately. There I said it. Vulnerability is strength and here I sit being vulnerable with my followers and the world and saying to you its okay to not always be okay. My funk has been short in comparision to some or maybe long to some others. But I’m in a spiritual f ..read more

Becoming a Just Strong Ambassador

“God created it. Jesus died for it.The Spirit lives for it. We’d better take care of it.” Pastor Rick Warren Wow. So, it’s been just over a year since I joined the Just Strong team as an ambassador for women empowering women through fitness and I realise I haven’t actually written a post as to why them. Why over brands like gym shark, pursue fitness and stronger etc (all great brands in their own right – and brands I still enjoy representing) did I strive to be a brand ambassador for Just Strong? Just Strong focus on empowering women to “never give up”. Whether going through a physica ..read more

International women’s day: Why we should be lifting each other up in God’s grace?

Happy International women’s day…. To all my sisters in and out of Christ, to the mothers, the Grandmother’s, Aunt’s, Godmother’s, the friends that you call sisters and to all the women all over the world. I salute you. James Brown is still, somewhat unfortunately, still right in his famous words ” This is a man’s world, BUT it would be nothing without a women or a girl.” Let’s face it women have been working their way up the ranks for years and some are overtaking men in being “successful”, (what does that truly look like or mean?)but we still have a long way to go in some respects. Wow! I cannot believe we have reached the beginning of another year. 2018 saw me visit 5 new countries in 12 months, begin learning 2 new languages, complete another course and meet my favourite yellow bear. I begun with An Italian Adventure – What a start to 2018. If you’d told Aisha at 28 that in 2 years she’d visit 5 new countries in 2018 she’d of laughed at you. But that’s exactly what I did. I begun my year teaching English in Italy. The country was sublime and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit such a beautiful country, filled with equally beautiful people. The w ..read more

Courage and Confidence

Phew! Man, am I glad this week is over and I’ve had time to relax over the weekend . I can literally liken my week to The Sound of Music song ‘ I have confidence’. You know the one? Maria sings it as she’s leaving the convent to start her new life with the Von Trapp family as their Fraulein. Don’t act like you’ve not seen it! And if you haven’t, seriously why are you even here? Just kidding…. “What will this day be like? I wonder. What will my future be? I wonder.” I went into EFL teaching initially to just travel the world. But then something I never expected happened. I actually begun ..read more

Hello Autumn!

This weekend marks the begin of the Autumn season. My favourite time of year. The trees green leaves have already begun to turn their autumnal hues of yellowish, orange and red. The temperature dropped rapidly over the weekend and I’m already finding myself wanting to reach for the cosy jumpers and warm socks. The end of my nose has already begun to feel the cold and the need for warm comforting soups had me reaching for the vegetables today. There is always a bitter-sweetness to Autumn and that is her cruel, harsh sister – Winter making an appearance from Mid-November. But for now I sh ..read more

Bonding In Bydgoszcz

I’m finally in Poland. I spent the last to weeks on the IHCYLT (teaching young learners course) in a town (or is it a city?!) ,called Bydgoszcz around 301km north of Warsaw. I was kindly greeted at the airport by Gregorcz, the director of International House Bydgoszcz and shown to my temporary digs, where Char (temporary flatmate) and fellow course mate was waiting. The hospitality was amazing. They had provided me with all the basics: bread, milk, cheese and ham. Granted I wasn’t going to be able to eat it, but its the thought here that really did count. I was really apprehensive about ..read more

Getting rid of Facebook and reconnecting with the world.

I gave up Facebook back in 2007 for the 40 days and 40 nights that made up lent and I loved it. The feeling of living in the moment was easy. Sure I missed a few events because I was no longer aware of them happening, but at that time it also made me realise how our connections with our friends and family were already changing. No longer were we actively going out and seeking people to invite them to places, social media was becoming the easy way of connecting. Don’t get me wrong, if it wasn’t for Facebook I wouldn’t of got back in touch with my very first best friend, whom it now feels I have ..read more

Welcome Home Beautiful!

I’ve officially been home in the UK for 1 whole week. How has it been? Well…. I haven’t actually done a lot. I’m preparing to teach German kids at a Summer school starting next week and planning future blog posts and hopefully* business endeavours that will allow me to eventually girl boss like a pro. Something very strange seems to happen when a person leaves and goes travelling or even moves away. Mr.Slovak likes to call it ‘Culture shock’. Not only did I have to adjust to being able to understand everyone again; Trust me, walking around and not hearing Italian or Dutch being spoken really ..read more
