Tired Of Being Wired Saison (Heaney)

There’s a distinct novelty of drinking a can on a street, like you’re breaking the rules or something but not really, it’s a little beer garden area outside the Reporter bar. These wee areas outside pubs have sprung up like crazy in the past few years… For obvious reasons and I absolutely love them. Sitting outside with your mates enjoying a few bevvys in the afternoon or evening is always a great time. Then again, I prefer the smoking area to the bar cos that’s where the craic is, even though I don’t smoke. The music volume is much lower so you can have a chat and there’s this lovely hum o ..read more

Coffee & Hazelnut Stout (Garden Brewery) Happy New Year! Hope 2023 treats you all well. December was crazy busy and being that I work in hospitality so reviews & podcasts were put on the back burner but now in the quieter months, there’s loads of time now so let’s get into it! The first beer I’ll be checking out for a review here is the Coffee & Hazelnut stout by The Garden Brewery. It’s a brew that clocks in at 5.8% ABV and comes in a tidy looking 330ml can. I’ve cracked the can, poured it into the tasting glass to reveal an almost black brew with a light brown head that seemed ..read more

Ambush Pale Ale (Trouble Brewing)

Ambush by Trouble Brewing Hey hey! In the words of that Staind song… It’s been a while (since I wrote a review). So here goes. Upfront, as you can see in the image, I didn’t have this beer in a can. So this is technically pints across the road I guess! The very excellent Reporter Bar in Belfast had this beer pouring on draft and I couldn’t resist having a taste. If you haven’t been, The Reporter is this little bar in Union Street, a stones throw away from The Sunflower bar and down the road from The Deer’s Head. It’s like a little triangle of craft beers! Well anyway, check out The Report ..read more

Blue Pool NEIPA (Lacada)

Lacada Brewery As we lurch toward warmer days and leave the cold, bleakness of winter in the rear view mirror, we need beers that’ll compliment this gradual shift in climate. Enter Blue Pool from Lacada Brewery, a New England IPA that comes in a 440ml can and has an ABV of 6.4%. The pour reveals a hazy, dank but vibrant yellow beer with a brilliantly thick white head. On the nose, you’re hit with orange, grapefruit and some fresh herbs. The taste brings more of the same with a medium to light body, moderate carbonation and a slightly dry finish. There’s a very faint hint of tart to this w ..read more

Mourne Mountains Brewery At the weekend, I popped into Northern Lights on Ormeau Road, Belfast for a few lovely pints which Galway Bay’s Belfast flagship were happy to provide! After enjoying a pint of their Full Sail IPA, I fancied something in the way of a stout so asked for the 200 Fathoms which unfortunately wasn’t in stock. But the staff very kindly pointed me in the direction of this offering from Mourne Mountains brewery. This is the Wee Honey Honeycomb Imperial Stout from Mourne Mountains which clocks in at 9% ABV and comes in a 440ml can. In their own words: ‘Wee Honey is decadent ..read more

Citrus Maxima By Arbor Brewing Today, we’re checking out the Citrus Maxima Pale Ale from the Bristol based Arbor brewery. This beer clocks in at 4% and comes in a rather generous 568ml can which is a full pint as you know. We love a pint can. I mean, if you’re going to make a 440ml can, you might as well head on up to the 568ml and make it a pint. It’s too frustrating pouring a beer and stopping short of filling the pint glass but anyway, this isn’t OCD across the world. So… Beer? I crack the can and pour it into the tasting glass. It’s a hazy amber colour with a little white head and has t ..read more

Beerocca by Tiny Rebel & Berocca Well… How’s the form? It’s great to finally be back writing some words about beers after a bit of a hiatus due to adulting. The podcast will be making a return very soon as well thanks to finally having an internet connection in the gaff that can at least play gifs without buffering… But ANYWAY… Beer? Today, I’m checking out the Beerocca Orange flavour multi-vitamin IPA which is a collab brew from Tiny Rebel and Berocca. I like Tiny Rebel in the evening and Berocca for the morning after but what would happen if these worlds collided? Let’s find out! This ..read more
