When OnePlus announced earlier this month that they were bringing AI to a bunch of devices, I was surprised to not see Google’s Gemini mentioned. Knowing that Google is leading the charge when it comes to AI on mobile (look at the Galaxy S24 series), I figured they were behind OnePlus’ AI future. As it turns out, they are. Today, OnePlus (and OPPO) announced that they are partnering with Google Cloud to “utilize Google’s powerful Gemini models.” In other words, Google’s Gemini is going to help bring all of the AI that OnePlus and OPPO fans could ask for. Like with all AI announcements, the ent ..read more

OnePlus is getting in on the AI thing this week with the announcement of OnePlus AI and its first feature for a handful of devices. Starting in April, select OnePlus device owners will be able to experience “AI Eraser,” which yes, is like the Magic Eraser from Google Photos. As you can imagine, AI Eraser is a photo feature that will remove unwanted objects from pictures within the OnePlus Photo Gallery. Users get to highlight the items they want removed, like people or imperfections, that sort of thing, which pushes the AI to analyze, remove, and replace to keep the photo looking realisti ..read more

OnePlus Watch 2 Review: Battery Life is Wild, Fitness Tracking Surprisingly Great
Droid Life » OnePlus

The story of the original OnePlus Watch is not one to remember. OnePlus launched that device as some sort of fitness or wellness tracker, but it was bug-filled, weirdly sold, and didn’t run Wear OS. So to be honest, when we heard that OnePlus was considering a follow-up wearable, we weren’t exactly excited. As it turns out, they made a bunch of great decisions for the OnePlus Watch 2 and delivered something you’ll likely consider if you are in the market for a Wear OS device. To recap, the OnePlus Watch 2 is a Wear OS-powered watch that also happens to run two different processors in tandem (S ..read more

OnePlus has not been quick with Android 14 updates in the US. While they’ve pushed plenty of them to India in a timely manner, the NA market has been waiting and waiting and waiting for its updates, with little communication from OnePlus on the reason for delays. We asked and weren’t given any specifics, but as we enter the end of Q1, most (12, 11, 10 Pro, etc.) have now seen the update with the OnePlus Open up next. Over the weekend, OnePlus began rolling out Android 14 as OxygenOS 14.0.0.501. It is a massive update that weighs in at 2.54GB and includes a long list of changes, as well as the ..read more

Available in a 46mm case in both Black Steel and Radiant Steel, the OnePlus Watch 2 has been receiving a lot of positive press. Other specs for the device include a Snapdragon W5 chipset, dual frequency GPS, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, IP68 rating, plus a range of sensors for all of your sleep and ..read more

Google Tweaks Wear OS With OnePlus for Watch 2’s Incredible Battery Life
Droid Life » OnePlus

Smartwatches have had smart modes for years, where watchmakers promise days and days of battery life along with access to some features. The problem with those types of modes is that you often get the most bare bones of feature sets, minimal performance, and a smartwatch that has become less smart in order to last as long as promised. For the OnePlus Watch 2, OnePlus is promising battery life that lasts up to 100 hours, but they are also promising a watch that doesn’t take any hits in the smart department. Thanks to work done with Google for Wear OS, the OnePlus Watch 2 uses the Wear OS h ..read more

OnePlus might have teased the OnePlus Watch 2 yesterday in the vaguest of ways, but they’ve already asked us to forget all about that moment in a new reveal. OnePlus has officially outed the OnePlus Watch 2 and told us when to expect it along with an incredible battery promise. The image above is the OnePlus Watch 2 in black and silver, with full-round displays and a design that matches the one leaked months ago. The back shows off what appears to be a PIN charging system and large health sensor, plus a band system that fits perfectly into the watch’s lugs like we’ve seen Samsung do. The black ..read more

When we heard the news that Fossil was officially leaving the Wear OS space, our initial reaction wasn’t to worry about the future of Wear OS or that this could be a sign of Google’s commitment. We know that Google is all-in with its Pixel Watch line and that Samsung’s Galaxy Watch line is doing numbers for the platform. Instead, all we could think about was the fact that Fossil exiting meant one fewer choice for consumers in a product space with very few options. There doesn’t appear to be a growing line of companies looking to enter the smartwatch arena with Wear OS and that sucks because We ..read more

OnePlus 12 Review: Great Job, OnePlus

The smartphone space in the US feels smaller than ever. Apple dominates in overall sales, while Samsung has maintained its grasp on the Android crowd. Google is still here too, stealing all of the headlines, even if they aren’t pushing numbers anywhere near the other two. The thing is, you might wonder where else you can go if you aren’t a fan of those big three. Well, OnePlus is still making flagship phones that are often well under the $1,000 prices of those I just mentioned. The OnePlus 12 is their latest and it once again ticks so many boxes, while addressing some of the concerns we had fr ..read more
