Yoga is for Everybody I love the fact that yoga is for everybody, there are so many benefits to practicing yoga, for your physical, mental and spiritual health. You don’t need to be flexible as it is a personal practice. Every yoga teacher is different, yoga can have a different meaning to them and there are so many different types of yoga to try out. Yoga comes from ancient philosophy and has a rich history (www.ayuryog.org/timeline ) You can develop you own practice depending on your needs, it can be slow and meditative or hot and movement focused. There is no need to feel self consciou ..read more

My experiences with Perimenopause, What the fresh hell is this? I had never heard of Perimenopause. I thought I knew the reasons why I felt the way I did?  The symptoms I felt had been going on for a least 5 years. I blamed my slow gain of weight on the fact that I was an emotional eater (my experiences with my son were my excuse, you can read my previous post here The day I became a carer ). My son would have a seizure, hospitalisation or just a bad day generally and the chocolate, chips, biscuits would disappear without me even realising it.  I am a smart women, I know I could have been exe ..read more

A Letter to my teenage daughters, There are so many things I want to tell you, it seems like yesterday that you were both learning to crawl, walk and suddenly here you are both teenagers. I feel like time is running out. It’s running out because soon you will be adults and if these teenage years go by anywhere near as quickly as recent years, my gosh, it will go fast. I am certainly not wishing it to go quickly (ok, some days I do!) but there are things to say, that I wish I knew when I was your age. Be Kind Kindness is the most important value you can have, kindness to others, kindness to ani ..read more

This Green Bean Salad will be a sure fire hit at your next dinner party or BBQ. Having recently arrived home from a trip to Bali I miss and crave the amazing food. They have a way of cooking with fresh ingredients  and simply jamming in all kinds of flavours. Balinese meals generally consist of a bowl of soup or a curry, with lots of sides.  All types of yummy foods like tempeh ( I honestly don’t think I will ever be able to cook it the way the Balinese do), salads, fruits and rice. I love this green bean salad, it is so fresh, and as a side to a curry or any type of protein it was so deliciou ..read more

10 ways to live life in the moment Living live in the moment is something I daily strive for, the past few days in the media have been dark. Some days you can feel the weight of issues in life heavier than others. I blame a lot of the heaviness on the media and the sensationalist way they report on events now days. Previously I have discussed my own mental health journey, and I have realised that the last few days I have felt heavier. We did have a hospital appointment this week with my son which is always a trigger for me, also the latest events in the media have been shocking so I thought ot ..read more

The Joy of Journaling

The Joy of Journaling I have always kept journals from a young age. They haven’t always been used for the purpose of writing “Dear Diary today I…….” but as a place to keep my thoughts, pictures and ideas in one place. In my early 20’s I had an emotional moment and threw out all of the journals I had written as a teenager. I regret it now because I think they would be funny to read and I think my daughters would have a good laugh. My Journals were covered in bubble writing (remember puff paints?), smelly stickers and pictures cut out of smash hits and dolly magazines. I remember cringing when I ..read more
