Former CFL linebacker Alex Singleton will be a persona non grata in Houston for the foreseeable future after engaging in a heated exchange with Texans’ rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
On fourth-and-two from his seven-yard line, the now Denver Broncos’ defender was drawn offside on a blitz by a false start from left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Singleton continued to the quarterback and finished with his hands on Stroud, delivering a firm shove as whistles blew. That triggered a fiery reaction from the rookie, who got in the Canadian’s grill with a headbutt before his offensive line stepped in to sett ..read more

The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ latest head coaching hire has the stamp of approval of one of the organization’s most popular recent players.
Before he was christened as the Riders’ bench boss, Corey Mace was a stalwart defensive tackle with the Calgary Stampeders, where he ate up double teams for one of the league’s greatest-ever pass rushers in Charleston Hughes. According to the future Hall of Famer, it was always apparent what his teammate’s future profession would be.
“I already knew 100 percent, ‘Like, man, you’re gonna be coaching,'” Hughes recalled during an appearance on 980 CJME’s The ..read more

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats face another off-season of questions after the team once again failed to live up to the championship expectations that came after the team made a number of high-profile moves last winter.
This was supposed to be the year. With a future first-ballot Hall of Famer under centre, the Ticats seemed destined to win their first Grey Cup in nearly a quarter century and they were going to do it in front of their fans at Tim Hortons Field.
Then the season started.
The quarterback got hurt, the team lost six of their first nine games, they fired their offensive coordinator, and th ..read more

Montreal Canadiens fans had something to cheer about on Saturday night despite the team’s slow start to the 2023 season, as the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes were honoured ahead of puck-drop versus the Detroit Red Wings.
Veteran offensive lineman Kristian Matte led a strong contingent of Alouettes’ players that included the likes of safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy, defensive end Shawn Lemon, and Most Valuable Canadian Tyson Philpot, hoisting the trophy on the ice for a rousing ovation of ‘Ole Ole Ole’ from the Bell Centre crowd. Head coach Jason Maas and general manager Danny Maciocia were a ..read more

Grey Cup Most Valuable Player Cody Fajardo has always been known as a straight-laced guy but that changed when his speech ahead of the 110th Grey Cup made its way to public consumption.
The normally mild-manner Fajardo gave a fiery, expletive-laden speech to his teammates on the Saturday before the Grey Cup and the star quarterback recently divulged the origins of his now-legendary words came to be.
“(I knew) if I wanted to get everyone’s attention, I’m going to have to do a couple things that I normally don’t do. One is yell and scream and two, use some profanity,” Fajardo told The Rod Peders ..read more

Corey Mace is new to Rider Nation but it was in fact a Roughriders connection that started his football journey.
It’s a story the team’s new head coach wanted to tell in his first remarks to the fan base.
“I know I’ve told a couple of people. I hope he’s watching. As a young man, being the size that I was, there were only a couple of sports that I could play. I aligned with football pretty quickly. I always watched it from a distance on TV but never had a ton of opportunity to watch it up close,” Mace explained.
“A gentleman by the name of Brooks Findlay afforded my family tickets to go watch ..read more

Corey Mace endeared himself to Rider Nation with his first words as Roughriders head coach.
“You understand it being here, you understand it as a visitor coming here and you understand it when you get to know people from the province of Saskatchewan what this logo and what this team means to this community,” Mace said.
“I take pride in that as much as I know the community takes pride in this team. I will never lose sight of that, I promise you. I’ll do everything I can to provide that sentiment to the gentlemen that are going to don the jerseys on behalf of your team.”
Mace stated emphatically ..read more
