Embracing veganism goes beyond your diet—it spans across all aspects of life, including the beauty products we use. While vegan products guarantee no harm to animals, the term “vegan” doesn’t necessarily equate to ethical sourcing or environmental care. As mindful consumers, it’s crucial to consider the broader impacts on our planet and humanity. Let’s dive into three popular vegan-friendly ingredients that might not be as benign as they seem: This post contains affiliate links. 1. Should we boycott The Body Shop for Palestine?

Okay so, I’m a big fan of The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. This works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law. I love a consumer boycott as a form of activism and have definitely cut out the big three – Disney, McDonalds and Starbucks – in light of recent events. Other notable brands include HP (Hewlett Packard), Puma and Sabra hummus.  Why do some lists suggest boycotting The Body Shop? Basically, I’ve seen The Body Shop popping up on some BDS boycott lists (not all!) and it’s had me conc ..read more

Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lipstick stands as an iconic product adored for its subtle yet enhanced look. A neutral pink-brown that suits various skin tones, it has become a staple for many. However, disappointingly for vegans, it contains carmine, making it non-vegan. But no worries! Here are some vegan-friendly alternatives: Discover the Alternatives Whilst the Pillow Talk lipstick itself may not be vegan, oddly there are other products within the Pillow Talk range that indeed are vegan. Noteworthy mentions include: Hyaluronic Happikiss: A hydrating lipstick balm infused with Hyaluroni ..read more

Period pants, a simple and sustainable alternative to traditional menstrual products, have been increasing in popularity as of late. One major turn off for customers though, is cost. Like many susty swaps, they may become the economical option over time but they come with a higher initial cost that not everyone can invest in. What makes matters worse is that – whilst the ‘tampon tax’ was abolished for tampons, pads and menstrual cups – period pants were left behind and continue to have 20% VAT on their price. The Battle for Recognition Marks & Spencer and Wuka, two major players in the per ..read more
