A: Yes. After the Flood of 1997 the cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks worked together to build permanent flood protection. The project is designed to protect the Grand Forks from a river level of 57 feet (the flood of 1997 reached a little over 54 feet). The permanent flood protection was complete in 2007.
