Since moving back to Boise I’ve been setting up interviews with breweries in the area and revamping my brewery of the week series. Last week I got to sit down with Ed Danti and Greta Mohr the owners of new brewery Twisted District Brewing Company and got to ask them a few questions about their brewery. Twisted District is located in Garden City, ID a town just outside of Boise. Without further ado, let’s dive into the conversation. What was the inspiration behind Twisted District Brewing? General History? Twisted District started in 2020 right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ed had r ..read more

We’re back at it again in the City of Trees. Being back in the birthplace of Hoppy Travels & Cider Sightings is nothing short of amazing. When my plane landed at 11:15 PM on Tuesday April 27th I was smiling ear to ear and honestly it took every fiber of my being to not squeel on the plane and totally embarass myself. Many of you have asked me what it has been like moving back to Boise. I came back and I felt at home for the first time in awhile. For those of you who don’t know I moved around a lot so whenever people ask where I’m from it was difficult to answer. Even though I can’t say wh ..read more

Literally right before this pandemic Craft Beer had such a promising future so when I heard that 60% of breweries could go under as a result of this pandemic I was upset and angry. Then I thought no I’m going to let this happen so I quickly got to researching how we can possibly save the craft beer industry. Get to Go and Delivery from Your Local Breweries Of course still keep buying beer to go from your local breweries because that is probably the main thing that is keeping their lights on. If you don’t drive like me and your favorite local breweries aren’t within walking distance check if ..read more

Activities to Keep Craft Beer Lovers Busy During Self Quarantine

So before all of this happened it was pretty obvious what craft beer lovers, bloggers, and other influencers did which was go to breweries and travel to go to breweries and big craft beer festivals. Now that both of those things are unrealistic now what do we do to keep our sanity? 1. Homebrewing Well many people homebrew anyways but I wouldn’t be surprised if the amount of homebrewers grew during this time. In fact many people are doing live brew days during this time so you can watch and learn from some awesome homebrewers. In fact there are a few Instagrammers that I highly recommend che ..read more

Happy National Beer Day! I mean right now I feel like everyday is National Beer Day during this quarantine but today is the official day. So in honor of todays holiday I wanted to share the history of National Beer Day. So believe it or not National Beer Day started when Congress passed the 18th Amendment enacting prohibition. I know at first I thought what? Although, If you think about it people were trying to find creative ways to enjoy their alcoholic beverages. Fourteen years later, FDR became president and everyone wanted change. One of the changes he made was enacting the Cullen-Harriso ..read more

During this crazy and scary time it seems like so much is out of our control and what we need to do is sacrifice our livelihoods and not be around people. However, we can still support our local breweries and restaurants by ordering to go and now getting delivery. Wait Taylor we can get beer delivered? Yes you can and you should in order to keep the breweries that we love so much in business. I live in the Phoenix area and I know their are many beer lovers in this area so I’m listing all of the breweries that are doing beer to go and/or delivery. Phoenix Beer Company not only loves Phoenix but also great beer. I had the pleasure of interviewing Adam Wojcik the Brewery Director this week and he sure did not disappoint. What was the Inspiration for Phoenix Beer Company? So the space that Phoenix Beer Co is in now was another brewery that was about to close its doors and the founders were passionate about craft beer, good food, and Phoenix as a whole. They wanted to brew beer for Phoenecians and why should we trust these guys to do that? Well because many of them are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Phoenecians and they have been in the cr ..read more

Hoppy Travelers and Cider Sighters let me introduce you to Front Pourch Brewing. Front Pourch is a very new brewery that opened up just last year but they have already caught my attention. My good friends Trevor and Rachel opened up this brewery along with Trevor’s family. I met both of them when they came into the Whining Pig while I was working and I thought they were awesome people and I knew I needed to try their beer. Now if you have read previous brewery of the week posts this one will be different because I decided to take a new approach on deciding who the brewery of the week is and h ..read more

It is Arizona Beer Week this week and I thought it would only be proper to write about my favorite breweries in Arizona. No not just in Phoenix but in the whole state. Tombstone Brewing-Tombstone Photo Credit: Tombstone Brewing Company You can’t talk about Arizona craft beer without talking about Tombstone. In fact I’m drinking their Idaho 7 Pale Ale as I’m writing this. As the name suggests Tombstone is located in the historic town of Tombstone, Arizona which is a place that is on my travel list not just for the brewery but for the spooky history.
