Many of us use Acorn TV and BritBox to watch British shows, but too many people overlook the shows available to stream on Amazon when you have a Prime Membership. Though they've moved a lot of the shows over to Freevee in recent years, they still have a number of good ones on offer.
A couple quick notes on this list:
Amazon doesn't always give you EVERY season of a show. For newer shows, the most recent series or two may be in exclusive contracts with other services.
Please note: availability of any of the shows below can change at any time. A ..read more

With two great spin-offs returning to the BritBox schedule in April, it seemed like a good time to take a look at some of the best spin-offs to come out of the British TV scene.

BritBox and Acorn TV may be the best sources of British TV shows to stream in the US, but there are more than a dozen services that regularly offer new British programming. For that reason, we like to make it a little easier each month by looking at which brand new shows are premiering across the major US streaming services. By that we mean only those shows which:
Had their original UK premiere within the last year or so
Are showing in the US for the first time on a streaming service.

BritBox has an incredible array of British TV programming, and if you primarily browse through their app, it can be a bit difficult to find them all. The top mysteries get promoted heavily on their main menus, but there are plenty of hidden gems tucked away in the category lists. The goal of this post is to show you everything on offer as of March 2024 – so you don't miss anything that might be of interest.

Is there are show that compares to Shetland? I'm not sure. Shetland is the perfect balance of all the best elements: bleak atmosphere, breathtaking windswept landscapes, a determined detective, and grisly crimes. To top it off, there's also a wonderful soundtrack.
Shetland is based on the Shetland novels by Ann Cleeves, and while they're different from the show in many ways, they're ..read more

Detective work is hard, so it makes sense that some detectives might be a bit grumpy. Years upon years of seeing humanity's worst could put a dent in the sunniest of dispositions.
Still, whether they're cynical, frustrated, depressed, angry, or just a little prickly, these character traits can make watching mysteries all the more entertaining for their realism and character depth.

Season 2 of Whitstable Pearl premiered back in late 2022 and with no news since then, many had started to lose hope of a third season – but this month, Acorn TV announced they're hard at work on season 3.
