Mendocino Magic – California
What’s the history behind Mendocino Magic – how did the land become acquired and was there always camping there? Mendocino Magic was founded in 2000 when it was purchased. The campground had a soft start in the early 2000s but its true launch was in 2015 when owner and operator Mackenzie completed her graduate studies in San Francisco and officially moved to the land to maximize its potential. Can you give us the background of how you co-founded Lotus Belle?
My home country is New Zealand but I spent a brilliant three years living in the UK. Many Kiwis gravitate there, as we have a strong ancestral connection. With festivals like Glastonbury where the local area housed a tiny population and no hotels; the natural solution was to start creating pop-up hotels.

land, a countryside retreat enjoyed by those with an Instagram lifestyle.
But few of us have the time, the money or the desire to
create the carbon footprint that such a holiday requires. So, Robin Staten
rethought the model and came up with Tiny Urban Escapes; it’s big on style,
small in size and can be accessed from downtown Indianapolis in just 15-20
minutes. This means maximum relaxation time for stressed-out urbanites and an
unparalleled opportunity for collaboration with local businesses and suppliers.
