I found a stash of photos from the 2016 Sioux Falls Air Show that I had forgotten about. This is a B-25 owned by the Texas Flying Legends Museum in Houston. It was made in late 1945, so it missed out on combat action in World War II ..read more

Next to our Civil Air Patrol intercept missions with F-16 from the Air Force or the S.D. Air National Guard, my ride in this BT-13 with an open canopy is one of my favorite aviation experiences. As a Commemorative Air Force member, I got the chance to ride in the Minnesota Wing's BTA-13. The wind in your face, you feel like you are both a part of the sky and the aircraft.  When I find the video of my flight, I'll post that too ..read more

Once again, my old buddy N397CA, one of the South Dakota Wing's Cessna 182Ts. We stopped for gas and Mexican food (Picante's, wonderful burritos and salsa!) in O'Neill, Nebraska during an F-16 intercept mission Capt. Kurt Johnson and I flew 5/4/19.  Beautiful day to fly, at least in the morning, severe clear, no turbulence, a little rocky on the way back to FSD. KONL (O'Neill Regional-Baker Field) is a great little airport. Beautiful FBO, great runway, excellent signage, free airport cars to go into town, and 24/7 automated fuel service ..read more

Not the real Charles Lindbergh or Spirit of St. Louis but pretty cool nonetheless. There are a million great reasons to go to San Diego--the weather at the top--but you need to put the San Diego Air and Space Museum on your agenda. Great collection of replica and real aircraft and spacecraft. But the real treat is the basement, where they have works inI progress, old school machining equipment, out of stock bolts and whatnots, and a really cool old guy who explains it all ..read more

RCAF CH-146 Griffon? I'm not sure. 4/13/19, FSD, no tail number

I think this is an RCAF CH-146 Griffon, a Canadian Air Force utility helicopter.  There were two of them at FSD 4/13/19, so I'm wondering if it might instead be CH-139 Jet Ranger, with is the RCAF's helicopter trainer. I didn't catch the tail number as I was in the passenger seat behind the pilot in our SDWG CAP Cessna 182. Not the best of views. So, any thoughts on if it is one of these helos or something else ..read more

I think this is a first for me, a Cessna 441 Conquest II.  Kind of looks like a smaller version of a King Air. Yes, I know that's a Beechcraft aircraft. Nice looking bird sitting on the apron at ONL. It is owned by Ecoh Holdings, LLC of Greenwood Village, Colorado ..read more
