In December 2022, my wife and I headed to the United Arab Emirates for an end-of-the-year break. It was a fast-paced year, and she had some days off at the end of the year, so we figured why not. The UAE has a good mix of things to do, both rest and socialisation-wise, for both of us. However, I wanted to cross off another thing pending on my list, the Louvre in Abu Dhabi this time around. So, we agreed that we could fly from Delhi to Abu Dhabi and then, on the return, fly back from Dubai. We’d just flown the Etihad A350 in August 2022, and it was time to book it again. Hence, an Etihad A350 B ..read more

I flew Air India's 787 on a domestic flight the day after the takeover completed. While I did not expect a change in the hard product, and it continues to be in horrible state, there are some changes coming to the soft product.

Ever since the Boeing 787-9 of Vistara was inducted in the fleet in March 2020, I’ve wanted to fly it. However, given the CoVid-19 grounding of Indian aviation, there was no way to do so until recently. Vistara has two Boeing 787-9 aircraft in their fleet at the moment, and more are going to join the fleet over time. Vistara 787 Business Class Vistara most recently started flights between Delhi and London with the Boeing 787-9, and will be launching Mumbai – London flights soon as well. Subsequently, Paris and Frankfurt might also be launched using this equipment. While these planes are not fl ..read more

Frequent readers know my love for flight, new ones perhaps not so much. My last international flight of 2020 pre-pandemic was a BOM-BLR-LHR-ORD-SEA-LHR-BLR-BOM at the end of February when I flew over to Seattle. Domestically, I flew BOM-DEL on Vistara, DEL-LKO on IndiGo and then GOP-BOM on SpiceJet back in March before it was time to be locked down. Airlines remained grounded till May 25, 2020, when domestic aviation was allowed to start again. For the first few months, my lookout was that people who were displaced should get a seat to fly back home; hence, I did not jump on the bandwagon of p ..read more
