Many lives have changed since COVID-19, and not for the positive - our family included. While I understand and respect that people are scared of COVID-19, and are demanding for anyone and everyone to wear masks at all times outside their home, I can’t help but ask what we parents are expected to do when a child has a legitimate medical condition that makes mask wearing a traumatic event ..read more

I get on social media everyday and am baffled by what I see… Why can’t people scroll on if they don’t like what they read? It’s me… I’m said “people” that clearly has trouble scrolling on… *laughing at myself because I know it’s true* Self-awareness can be amazing — both enlightening and also super annoying at the same time. Anyone else feel that way? No? Just me? I’ve been on a pathway of becoming my very best self, best mom, best person I can be — and with that comes listening to a lot of books on tape, podcasts, etc; when I work out, am driving Apollo to appointments — or on the rare chance ..read more

Halloween 2019

Halloween 2019 Apollo looking at the goodies he scored!Having a child with special needs, makes most public outings nerve wracking for me. On the outside I might seem cool-as-a-cucumber, but on the inside I’m usually anxious. Having a child with severe ASD/ADHD/SPD/Apraxia, I never truly know how Apollo will handle the overall experience. Halloween adds a whole different scope of potential complications for us — it’s dark (Apollo doesn’t like it when it’s dark), there’s so much unknown and potentially scary costumes, unknown sounds, etc. This particular “outing” was our first local “event” we ..read more

Autism is not an excuse…

I’ve tried for about a week to do a video about an incident that happened at the park, and have not been successful. As a parent with a diagnosis of ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) myself, it’s sometimes hard for me to put into words how I’m truly feeling when I’m in front of a camera. I get tongue tied, or go off on tangents, and the video I recorded was going to be longer than anyone would want to watch. It was long, and emotional… and I was a mess. That’s why I’ve been quiet. I really needed to take a moment to take a deep breath, to focus on my kids, and focus on moving past the hurt, th ..read more
