The ITRC’s 2023 Consumer Impact Report looks at the emotional, physical and practical effects on the day-to-day lives of victims, including lost opportunities. Watch the 2022 Trends in Identity Report webinar by the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC). Highlights from the report include: Most reported identity misuse was due to existing account takeover (61 percent – 3,637 victims).  Reports of misuse of both new and existing accounts were up 13 percent in 2022 compared to 2021.    In 2022, most victims who contacted the ITRC about compromised identities were impacted by a Google Voice scam (61 percent – 4,081 victims).
