Symposia are important components of SSAR at the Annual Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (JMIH).  They allow researchers in a given subfield to come together and present the latest research in that area; can result in proceedings and books based on the outcomes of these symposia; benefit society members through interactions with the symposium participants; and they can form the theme of an annual meeting, often referenced historically. Reciprocal Membership Agreements Between Mexican Herpetological Societies and SSAR

We are very pleased to announce formation of two membership agreements between the SSAR and the Sociedad Herpetológica Mexicana (SHM) and between SSAR and the Asociacíon para la Investigacíon y Conservación de los Anfibios y Reptiles A.C. (AICAR). The presidents of SSAR, SHM, and AICAR worked to establish inter-society membership agreements with approvals from their respective boards of directors. Herpetological Review Volume 54, Number 3, is now available! The cover features an image of Dipsas welborni that was photographed by Cristian Torica from near Tarapoto, Peru. Dipsas welborni was only recently described and like other Dipsas, feed on almost exclusively on slugs and snails. Herpetological Review Volume 54, Number 2, is now available! The cover features an image of Phrynosoma ditmarsi (Rock Horned Lizard or Ditmars’ Horned Lizard) that was photographed by Charles Hedgcock from Sonora, Mexico. Phrynosoma ditmarsi has been recognized for more than a century but it remains among the least-known reptile species in North America, with approximately 20 localities known, all in the state of Sonora.
