The Utah Motorsport Campus has to be one of the wildest tracks ever designed in Motorsport. Something about a car flying 130+ feet through the air seems so...Unrealistic. Glen Helen saw a rework to the Nitro Rallycross festival. The beginnings of a blueprint to forge a one of a kind event that satiates the appetite of motorsport fans. Today was the first in-person look at the purpose built track for Nitro Rally Cross, perfectly nestled amongst the rodeo grounds and chuckwagon track of GMC Stadium, at the Calgary Stampede Park. Back in 2019, we covered the America’s Rallycross series in Trois Rivieres, Quebec. We were convinced that Rallycross had become the greatest spectating motorsport. Table top jumps, door to door racing, actual contact without repercussions. We followed it religiously. A race track is long overdue for the city of Calgary. We, as a city, have been deprived of the spectacle of motorsport since 2011. When Race City was shut down, enthusiasts in and around Calgary were filled with heartbreak. The closest tracks were hours away and not ideal for a quick evening of track time.
