Danique Visser (24 years old) was one of the greatest goalkeeper talents in the Netherlands a few years ago. As a potential she was allowed to smell the Orange. But she wasn’t happy in recent years. Last winter, Visser was the first goalkeeper to retire from Bloemendaal. That felt like a liberation. ‘I was no longer myself during the training sessions.’

The clock continues to wind down until the Olympic torch relay reaches its destination in the Tuileries Garden, opposite the Louvre, signifying the start of the 30th Summer Olympic Games.

Cork Church of Ireland will host this weekend’s EY Hockey League Division 2 Men’s and Women’s Play-Off Finals, tickets are now on sale.

The games take place at Garryduff, the home venue of CORK Church of Ireland hockey club. Both of the semi-finals in both divisions take place on Saturday with both finals taking place on Sunday. All finalists, Men’s and Women’s, will be promoted to the EYHL Division 1 for season 2024-25.

England’s three EHL Men’s qualifiers were confirmed last weekend as Old Georgians became the first side to win the Premier Division titles for three years in succession since Cannock in 2006.
They were were 3-1 winners over Surbiton in the final as they overcame the concession of an early goal from Struan Walker with Lee Morton, Dan Shingles and James Carson earning them a 3-1 win.
It adds to their incredible season which also featured a Super 6s Premier Division title, Premier Division title and EHL bronze.
