I’ve been doing this for 10 years?! And by this I mean taking pictures of my ouftirs and putting them on the internet, fashion blogging. I’ve had this blog for more than 10 years, and I promise I'm happier about it than I look in these photos.  So last week writing clothing love stories made me nostalgic, and that combined with re-finding my grey tie dye body con skirt in the back of my wardrobe made me want to recreate some of my first outfit posts. Plus some pictures more in my current style. Then upon looking at said old pictures on this here blog, I realised that I took the original ..read more

Hey Shein, Who Makes your Clothes?
The Quirky Queer

Today marks the last day of fashion revolution week, but that doesn't mean that the time is over to ask brands who makes their clothes. This Fashion Revoution Week (or a little later) I've decided to focus on Shein and ask, who makes your clothes? If you don't know what fashion revolution week, it was started after the Rana Plaza incident in 2013, a factory collapse that killed 1,138 people and injured 2000+ more and Fashion Revolution Week is a week of campaigning, events, and more pushing towards a fairer, safer, more transparent and accountable fashion industry,. This year marks te ..read more

Pretty Little Thing's New Resale App is a Greenwashing Marketing Stunt
The Quirky Queer
by

Earlier this month Pretty Little thing and their creative director Molly Mae Hauge announced that Pretty Little thing is launching a resale app, allowing customers primarily to sell their own used PLT items, along with others. Now you may think that as a lover of second hand fashion I would be jumping for joy at this but sadly I see this as the greenwashing tactic it is. So let's talk about that. Read more ..read more

PETA X H&M is not the "future of fashion", it's greenwashing
The Quirky Queer

The other day I was scrolling my way through twitter, as I do, and up pops a post from PETA (an organisation I admit I'm already not a fan of) talking about how the "future of fashion is here!". I was intrigued... and then gave the biggest eyeroll imaginable when I see their version of the future of fashion is a vegan collection with H&M.  Read more ..read more

Trans+ Pride 2021
The Quirky Queer

A year ago I never would have thought I would be making this post, for many reasons. Firstly because COVID has taken most of the last two year's pride events, and secondly because me? at a trans pride event? in London? A weird thought. But I went, I saw, I soaked in the atmosphere, and now I'm here to share some pictures and tell you how it felt to be there. How it felt to be there? Well the overwhelming feeling was surreal, a lot of it because of the aforementioned reasons, it's been two years since I've been to a pride event in person, and at least 15 months since I've been in a la ..read more

Trans books I've been enjoying recently: A review
The Quirky Queer

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted on this site, I started my MSc in renewables back in October and it took over my life a little, along with working and trying to get through lockdowns. All the researching and writing energy I usually put into this space is spent writing reports for my degree, hence the silence. But I have something a little different today, which I hope you like. To be honest I debated whether to post this little set of reviews on this space at all, as it is very much about environmentalism more than personal things, but it is about personal things i ..read more

Why has a new deep coal mine been approved in the UK?
The Quirky Queer
by

You may have seen recently in the news that the UK's first deep coal mine for 30 years have been given approval for the third time in Cumbira by the council. This has raised outrage from environmentalists and many questions from people, including me. So let's talk about this proposed coal mine. I think anyone with a basic working knowledge of global warming and the climate crisis knows that (despite the fact that coal is a very useful material) when it comes to the environment, the health of people, and our future on this planet... coal is better kept in the ground. So why is a brand new coa ..read more

Everything Wrong with Inside Missguided
The Quirky Queer

If you're in the sustainable fashion space, or even a fan of fast fashion, you may have seen recently that Missguided, the global fashion brand, got their own short documentary series. I saw many people I follow live tweeting about it, there have been lots of articles talking about how irresponsible it was, and I also sat my way though all 4 episodes and so I have many things to say about it. I have put off writing this post because the amount of hours I have already put into the video and watching the show was painful enough,. Then Youtube's copyright system got in the way of my video, but ..read more
