Before we met We love sharing our story because it’s not just about us. It’s really a story of God’s faithfulness and grace in our lives. Everyone’s life journey is unique, but we hope ours sparks a new hope in your heart for what God wants to do in your life, not only in regard to relationships or marriage but to any other situation that you are looking to Him for. He is a present Father, capable of the impossible, and he knows exactly what we need and when we need it. So here it is. We hope you enjoy the read! We’ll take you back. Way back… Travis was born and raised in a beautiful little to ..read more

Travis & Johanna – Our Story | How We Met
IAMFORGIVEN

How We Met It’s early 2019. He lives in LA and I in Germany. Both of us working jobs to get back on our feet after years of missions. Both are no longer in any relationships or have no current interests. I worked at a sweet little coffee shop and was acclimating to German culture again. Something I really enjoyed was regularly visiting my mom and brothers, friends, and relatives after years of living so far away. I was living in a house with two lovely single girls. Our kitchen table was where many late-evening conversations about life, love, God, and our passions were discussed. But this one ..read more

Travis & Johanna – Our Story | Now That We Met
IAMFORGIVEN

Now that we met After a sweet honeymoon escape to Hawaii, we settled into our little one-bedroom apartment in LA. A couple of weeks later we were ushered right into the Covid-lockdown! We honestly didn’t mind the extended honeymoon Thankfully, Travis was able to keep his job during it all. This time was full of home-cooked meals, movie night, walks along the beach, and just time to get to know each other even more. In these first months, we started praying about where and how God wanted to use us as a team. Marriage is wonderful, but we strongly believe that for us as Christians it shouldn’t ..read more

Mary’s Surrender, the birth of Jesus
IAMFORGIVEN

Mary had just given birth to the Son of God himself. What must have been going through her mind and heart? What a responsibility. What an honor. God handpicked her for this very special mission. But her circumstances were not what she might have hoped for. She probably would rather have given birth in the comfort of her own home, with fresh linens and a bed to sleep on. With friends and family close by, and a trusted midwife to help her with her first birth. But sometimes, the most incredible miracles happen in very unexpected moments. In the less-perfect moments. In the unplanned. The times ..read more

It’s a dark world, Be the light

It’s been a really difficult year. 2020 will forever mark a time in history that was filled with fear, uncertainty, pain, sickness, loss, anger, hatred, and confusion. People have suffered through isolation, losing their jobs, and the death of their loved ones. And as the months pass by, people start to lose more hope, and reason to live. This is where we come in. “You are the light of the world” is Jesus’ answer. He knew that darkness has a tendency to try and overtake, dominate, and control. But He has already overcome the world. And as his followers, he gave us a powerful weapon to fight d ..read more

What’s in Focus
IAMFORGIVEN

When you look through the lens of a camera, you get to pick your object of focus. The little “red squares” help you define what the lens should sharpen, and the rest of the details will be blurry. The creative part is that you get to pick what the viewer of your artwork will focus on. Our lives are no different. Each of us is a piece of art in the making. And we get to choose our focus. Am I focusing on the negative or the positive in my life? Are all the things that are not going my way highlighted, or is it the good, that I chose to bring into focus? Just because you chose to focus on the g ..read more

IAMFORGIVEN – What does it mean?
IAMFORGIVEN

IAMFORGIVEN – What does it mean? What does that even mean? What am I forgiven of… and who forgave me? I was hoping you would ask. In 2009, I started IAMFORGIVEN because the fact that I am forgiven has been a complete game-changer for me. Forgiveness has literally saved and changed my life. And if you’re interested in how, I would love to tell you about it. When I was 19, I had a moment when I paused in the busyness of my life, glanced back at the years I had lived until then, and realized I was completely lost and empty. It’s not that I didn’t have a nice place to live, a great job, mo ..read more

Do you really have faith?
IAMFORGIVEN

When God called me to the mission field, I learned a very challenging but interesting lesson. He told me to leave behind everything I owned, my friends & family, and even my dog.  I felt like God was saying that I needed to walk away from the old and into something else He had for me.  Now that was pretty difficult, having lived a very comfortable life without much real struggle.  This required me to walk out into the unknown, by faith, fully trusting that God would provide for my every need. Initially taking that step of faith, I didn’t have a place to stay or even enough money for food ..read more
