Hyperloops — a proposed mode of land transportation that would propel a pod like vehicle in a near vacuum like tube to achieve speeds equivalent to modern day airlines. If completed, this would become the fastest mode of land passenger transportation we could ever see. What’s nice is that quite a few companies are all working on building their own commercial passenger hyperloops at the same time, so there is an intense race going on to see who can turn this concept into a reality first. And now, it seems like Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) are ahead in the game.

We’ve been seeing news about different countries trying to upgrade their transportation system with the aim to get people to reach different destinations in the fastest way possible. Of course, the United Arab Emirates makes sure that the whole world knows about their plans to be one of the most advanced when it comes to that as well. Introducing the Dubai Hyperloop.

Travelling in vacuum tubes may sound like science fiction. It is very futuristic and a head start towards building smart cities and high tech suburbs. Really, it is just something you can watch in movies. Imagine travelling in tubes and crossing cities in just minutes. It sounds absurd and crazy. It’s called Hyperloop!
And now, it’s getting real.
Hyperloop technology
From a 57-page concept paper proposed by SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk in 2013, companies are now invested to construct and demonstrate a test run of the Hyperloop this 2016. The Hyperloop Transportation Technologies rece ..read more

At 89 y/o, this senior citizen engineer built a life-size toy train
Nearly two millennia ago, railway engineers in England and France thought of what they call as the “atmospheric railway.” The idea is to use differential air pressure to provide power for propulsion of a railway vehicle, removing the need of the locomotive and its fuel.
The slot is lined with leather to maintain the seal. And that leather is coated with tallow, or rendered cooking cow fat, to protect it from the elements.
But one of the main problems of this system is that the tallow attracted rats. Hence, and for several othe ..read more

The main proponent of the Metro Manila Subway Project is the Department of Transportation of the Republic of the Philippines. The details of this article were taken first hand from JICA and DOT.
Can you imagine how many heavy equipment, machinery, power generators, air-conditioners and chillers, building material and escalators this project will entail? Not only the construction and engineering companies will benefit from this massive infrastructure project, but the real estate as well.

Hyperloop One first started out as a startup company with a huge goal: To create the world’s fastest land transport. Over the past 5 years, they have gathered a team of the brightest minds from all over the world to help them develop this technology, as well as some partners and supporters, the most notable of which is Elon Musk. This has resulted to leaps and bounds in the development of Hyperloop technology, and what once seemed like a distant sci-fi fantasy will become a reality by the 2020s.
To boost the hype around their innovation, Hyperloop one decided to host a competition in May of la ..read more

Travelling could be really complicated, tiring, time consuming, and expensive. First you have to book your train, bus, or plane ticket. Then you have to wait in line for your flight or ride to begin boarding. Then, you have to sit through the travel for some time until you reach your destination. Finally, you have to book a hotel once you finally arrive. It’s exhausting, especially if our goal to travel in the first place was to relax. Now, imagine if all that hassle was gone, as the booking, travel, and accommodation were all combined in one.
Well, that’s exactly what Brandan Siebrecht, a gra ..read more

Elon Musk envisions the future of transportation to be with hyperloop, or tubes on magnetic rails which, by theory, allows traveling faster than the speed of sound. Through his company SpaceX, a competition was held this year to find the team to develop the hyperloop transport technology.
Now, the winning Dutch team from the Technical University of Delft (TU Delft) is setting up a full-scale testing center for the systems. Early in 2017, it beat teams from MIT and the Technical University of Munich in the all-around design and construction award.

Elon Musk has this great idea of a transportation system he calls Hyperloop, composed of two massive tubes with pods carrying passengers which could travel at speeds 700mph max.
A one-way trip on the Hyperloop is projected to take about 35 minutes as compared to the 6-hour long drive with the same distance. His aerospace firm SpaceX is now taking care of the technology.
But it’s not only Elon Musk that dreams of this kind of transportation system. Daryl Oster has his own version, and he claims that it’s better than the Hyperloop.

In 2013, Elon Musk first proposed the creation of a hyperloop, an ultra-fast mode of transportation that has levitating pods powered by electricity and magnetism that travel through low friction pipes at a maximum speed of 1,220 kph or 760 mph. Now, it’s going to be a reality.
