Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble – Pride And Joy – Live at Montreux, 1982.
People rave about how good his playing is, but hardly ever do they talk about how damn good of a singer he is. Listen to that soulful voice!
There’s blues, there’s rock, and then there’s SRV.
Lyrics:
Well, you’ve heard about love givin’ sight to the blind
My baby lovin’ cause the sun to shine
She my sweet little thing
She my pride and joy
She my sweet little baby
I’m her little lover boy
Yeah, I love my baby
Heart and soul
Love like ours won’t never grow old
She my sweet little thing
She my pride and joy
She my s ..read more

The Blues Brothers (John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd) – Soul Man – Season 4, 1978.
John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd were absolute next-level entertainers, and they did it live. No redo, no post-production. They had exactly one take to get it right, and get it right they did!
You have just witnessed one of the greatest moments in television history. I saw this when it first aired live. Just imagine two comedians coming out there and you are expecting them to do something funny and hilarious, which is what they were known for. But after you see and hear that first verse, you know this is something spe ..read more

Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan – Born Under A Bad Sign – From Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King In Session, 1983.
You know an old-school player is the man when SRV is playing rhythm for him. These two prove the blues have no color. The mutual respect is palpable!
Blues like this is a ritual. It’s a very narrow genre, and very deep. And NOBODY got deeper into it than Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan got down almost as deep into it on his better days. It is surprising how much variety these bluesmen could actually get out of such a narrowly defined genre.

Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson – Superman – Live on Letterman
Country, rock, and gangster rap constitute a beautiful mix of completely different worlds and cultures, and it is needed more than ever these days.
Lyrics:
Too many pain pills too much pot
Tryin’ to be something that I’m not
Superman Superman
Tryin’ to do more than I can
Got a little of hand
I ain’t Superman
know what I’m talking about?
I blew my throat and I blew my tour
I wound up sippin’ on soup du jour
I wasn’t Superman, oh no I wasn’t Superman
I’m tryin’ do more than I can
i got a little out of hand
I wasn’t Superman

John Mayall, The Bluesbreakers and Mick Taylor – Oh, Pretty Woman – Recorded From 70th Birthday Concert on 19th of July 2003.
This is how I like my Blues: no frills, just honest music!
Here are true masters at work. After 50 years of listening to rock and blues, Buddy proves himself as such a great player, matched by Mick, another master, which is incredible. That’s the video that led me to “Mists of Time,” one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Incredible version of this song! So much feeling, respect and musical listening between two awesome guitarists!

Freddie King – Have You Ever Loved A Woman – Live
He took his coat off and just laid it across his amp. He didn’t even bother to fold it! He then jumped into playing some of the most soulful blues you ever heard! If you cannot feel this, you’re dead inside!
This is something that a lot of newer guitarists miss – TAKE NOTE of Freddie’s use of space in his playing! It’s masterful, and I don’t hear it often enough these days.
Freddie King is too often overlooked; he was a master of his instrument and deserves to be among the greats!

Ingrid is a very talented woman, she got it from her father! Love this man and his daughter!
Lyrics:
Sometimes I will, then again I think I won’t
Sometimes I will, then again I think I won’t
Sometimes I do, then again I think I don’t
Well, I looked at my watch, it was 9:21
Without a rock ‘n’ roll dance, havin’ nothin’ but fun
And we rolled, reelin’ and rockin’
We was reelin’ and rockin’, and rollin’ ’til the break of dawn
Well, I looked at my watch, it was 9:32
There’s nothin’ I’d rather do than dance with you
And we rolled, reelin’ a ..read more

Janis Joplin – Maybe – Live
There was a time when music was music to the soul!
Janis Joplin has been to this day the greatest woman rock performer. No one has equaled her voice, interpretation, and technique. She is and will ever be irreplaceable.
Lyrics:
Maybe
Oh, if I could pray, and I try, dear
You might come back home, home to me
Maybe
Whoa, if I could ever hold your little hand
Ooh, you might understand
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, dear
I guess I might have done something wrong
Honey, I’d be glad to admit it
Ooh, come on home to me

The Allman Brothers Band – Blue Sky – Live at University Of Florida Bandshell, 1982.
This is when the music was fabulous! Not enough is said about Dicky Betts’s vocal! He is one smooth southern drink of country blues!
R.I.P. Dickie Betts – one of the best who wrote some of our favorite songs, including Blue Sky. Hard to believe this was over 40 years ago!

Walk along the river, sweet lullaby
It just keep on flowing
