An update..
Was using the basal/bolus insulin approach for alot of years then a random Dr put me on a premix insulin. Then I got an endocrinologist who promptly switched me back to the basal/bolus routine.
OK so here's the issue.
On the basal/bolus insulins they made me so hungry I gained many pounds. And keep having to increase the doses but never getting to goal. Especially the basal insulin.
But on the premix I had a regular routine going, no excess hunger, and good numbers.
So now on...

A bit over a month ago I had an endoscopy and they discovered a lesion in my esophagus (had a dilation at theh same time). The biopsy revealed squamus cell carcinoma and a good chunk of this lesion was removed at the begnning of may. So eating anything other than soup and a few soft foods was off the table for several weeks.
Luckily the cancer was both shallow and very early (there's just a bit more to take out via cauterization. Unfortunately, due to t he trauma my stricture became much...

I am 81, diabetic, very active though ( running, windsurfing, elliptical machine, etc).
My doctor has just prescribed Ozempic as a last resort because metformin, exercise and diet alone have been so far unable to significantly decrease my A1C and, worse, to stop my alarming (and unsightly) weight increase , mostly around the belly as visceral fat. At 95 kg I am about 10-15 kg overweight.
For most, a significant contributing factors of weight loss with Ozempic is that it induces...

All of sudden about 10 days ago, I discovered that AccuChek doesn't trust me to know when I need a new lancet, and allows me to only use each one once. The new lancets now get advanced each time they're used, and when I've used the sixth, a line appears below the number six on the lancing device and it won't give me a lancet at all.
Now I'm a grown-up, and I've used individual lancets many times without a single infection (I know I need to wash and dry my hands carefully before testing, if...

My 7 year old son has been diagnosed with T1D for 3 months, on MDI.
I've always done his injections nobody else bar school, I've always been fine about them and done it really well so I like to think.
However this week I got sick and my hands got a bit shaky and it's eroded my confidence massively when doing injections.
I've swapped to holding the pen like a thumbs up which has really helped control and no longer shakey but when it comes to taking the needle out of the skin I panic and...

Does anyone get blood pressure spikes when their blood sugar drops lower than normal for them? I started lifting weights two months ago. I haven’t lost weight but I think my body composition has changed. My post meal blood sugars are running much lower than they normally do. I’m diet controlled so no meds. My post breakfast sugar was only 100 the other day. I do have white coat hypertension but my blood pressure normally is perfect at home. The past week I have been having low blood sugar...

I’m posting this after I saw an interview with Susan Schiffman. I had already decided to cut back on it, due to other reports, but this one is just too much. Schiffman focused on the damage to the digestive system and I’m struggling with that now. Is said to cause leaky gut, which is very problematic. A description of that works is in the first link below.
I really like Splenda, so this hits me hard. This study is from NC State University and UNC and I’m in Raleigh, so it makes it feel...

I’m just curious if anyone has experience with dialysis? My aunt, who is 78 and has Lupus, has been going 3 times a week to dialysis for the last few years. She’s really struggled with issues like exhaustion, port infections and surgeries, depression. However, she’s a very motivated person and likes to go a lot. She still travels and gets her treatment on the road. I can’t imagine that for my dad.
My dad (DOES NOT HAVE DIABETES) is 86 years old and takes lots of meds for his heart...
