Introduction:
It is a usual practice that when candidates write a story pertaining to preparation for an upcoming tournament, they tend to write a lot of unnecessary details in the 'introduction part' and hence are left with less time to explain how was the preparation actually done in the 'action part' of the story.
Remember, it is the quality of action points that define, whether the story is substantial or ordinary. Also, nicely written action points suggest that you are writing this story from your own experiences and is not a borrowed idea or a preconceived story.
Here's a sample story to ..read more

Basic teaching while writing a story for PPDT/ TAT is that you must endeavour to pick up a main character who is closer to your own age, as well as, your own gender. However, it is important to understand here, that this is a guideline and not really a rule.
In case in the picture the most prominent character visible, belongs to the opposite gender or sometimes not close to your own age, there is nothing wrong in identifying with that person and create a "Meaningful Purpose" or a "Need" for that main character befitting his/ her age/ gender.
Here is how you could approach such a picture (as s ..read more

Question:
Why were you not recommended in previous ssb attempts....sir please suggest how to handle such questions, so as to be honest and at the same time you are able to answer it diplomatically.
Answer:
Let us discuss an appropriate way to deal with the usual question asked during the SSB to the repeaters, that why do you think you were not recommended last time or a question which is many times asked even to the fresh candidates, as to how did you prepare yourself for your SSB.
As always, let's first try and understand the reason behind this question being asked by the IO.

Introduction
There is a tendency, especially amongst repeaters, to treat psychology tests as a preparation for an academic test and they cast an iron cage around their thoughts, based on ‘their’ understanding of what they have picked up from the environment.
They invariably wear unidirectional ‘blinds’ to judge the TAT stories through a set of hard and fast rules, rather than logical parameters through which the psychologists will evaluate your stories. I would recommend that you must allow your imagination to run 'free' and not ‘wild’ or ‘stereotypical’ to look for a meaningful purpose for yo ..read more

Question: Sir, how must I approach such a picture, where I find it personally difficult to relate with?
Answer: Please remember that the aim behind making you write TAT stories by the psych is to know your inner feelings, thoughts, values, beliefs, attitudes, etc. Hence, you will be seldom given such pictures that you will find difficult to relate with. Nonetheless, if you get this picture, how must you approach it:
Picture is of a room, appears to be a bedroom, where a male character, who appears to be asleep and a female character, who appears to be in a pleasant mood, seems to ..read more

Introduction
Many times when an image is shown in TAT which triggers negative emotions, your mind tends to express negativity. There is nothing so wrong about it, because negative emotions are also a part of the spectrum of human emotions.
However, depending upon the other features depicted in the picture, you could creatively write a story that projects such human traits of yours that are appreciable.
For example, when clearly a dead body is shown in the picture, you cannot deny this reality. Hence, some themes that can project you positively could be

Introduction
The Self Description (SD) Test is a very important tool in the hands of the psychologist to evaluate your level of self awareness.
The salient aspects that need to be kept in mind while writing your SD are as follows (you could also go through a video pertaining to the same. The link for which is given below): https://youtu.be/XE7L_003SE0
Self Description Test is conducted to assess the candidate's self awareness, which in turn will indicate his capacity to get trained in the future.
Imagine a person who is not even aware of his areas of improvement, how can he be ever groomed to ..read more
