Beta Readers and Blankets
Jacqueline Brown

Hello wonderful readers, I am in search of Beta Readers for my upcoming novel! You are likely wondering what is a beta reader. Great question! A beta reader is someone who receives a free ebook copy of my book before it is released. Amazing right??!! But they have a job to do! Actually, they have two jobs First, read through my book as soon as possible and give me feedback. Look for typos, things that don’t make sense, or anything I may have missed. This feedback is so important and so appreciated!!!! The second job I’d like you to do is review the book on Amazon as soon as it comes out – I’ll ..read more

Happy Thanksgiving!
Jacqueline Brown
by Jacqueline B. Brown

It is almost Thanksgiving and while I think about the amazing country I live in, the yummy food I’m about to eat, and how blessed I am to have my family to celebrate with, I also think about the book that started me on this writing journey. The Light begins on Thanksgiving Eve, I also happened to finish writing it right before Thanksgiving. A happy coincidence that has always felt meaningful to me, a sort of nod from God that says He knew exactly when I would finish the book that would totally change my life. In The Light, Bria and her friends are ..read more

Altered is Here!

My new dystopian novel is here! Azalea Rose is no different from all the other gestates. Even though she’s been gifted a name by Mr. Northup, she’s still only a slave. She exists for one reason—to serve. How could she be worthy of anything more? After all, she isn’t even a person. People are born from women; she’s merely a human gestated by a machine, genetically altered not to be able to love or even think for herself. Though she looks like a vintage born, the purest form of a person, she’s lower than an animal. The truth of her life doesn’t bother her. Why should it; it’s what she was creat ..read more

Announcing my newest novel!
Jacqueline Brown

I’m not sure how it happens but I really think I blink and days pass by. I remember as a kid things like Christmas and school breaks seemed to take forever to arrive, now as an adult I feel like Christmas is always just around the corner. And, of course, the more things we have going on the faster the time goes. I had every intention of releasing Altered, my newest novel, this spring but that didn’t happen. Instead, my son and I both had surgery – we are both fully recovered! But a few days after my son’s surgery, we lost our sweet Bella. We’ve gone from 3 dogs to one in the last few years. We ..read more

Gifted audiobook and inspiration
Jacqueline Brown

Gifted, book two of the Awakening Series is now available as an audiobook. Here’s the link for Audible. If you listen through other audiobook platforms, it will be to those soon or might already be there. I’m asked often about the inspiration for Gifted and Awakening. I understand why people are curious! The idea entered my mind after my family and I traveled to Maine and stayed in a house that was once an inn, set on a quiet cove. There were wild strawberries growing in the yard, blueberries were everywhere, and the tide rose and fell by twelve feet– something that’s a tad mind-blowing to th ..read more

5 years and counting
Jacqueline Brown

Writing a novel was never something I dreamed of doing when I was a child or even a grown-up. I was always thrilled for those I knew who wrote but never imagined I would someday join them. In 2009 at the age of 30, my husband and I went on a trip to Colorado. The mountains were awe-inspiring and an idea for a novel entered my mind. I spent the next few years working on that book. In my spare time, I attended critique workshops, a writer’s retreat, continuing education classes, and took the book all the way through the editing process. Essentially, I was writing and re-writing the book. Frankl ..read more

Reference List for Awakening Series

This blog post is literally a year overdue! I meant to write this after I released Awakening, not Gifted, but as I discussed in my last post—it has been quite the year! So, since this is a year late, I’m just going to go ahead and assume that you’ve read Awakening and will hopefully be reading the sequel, Gifted, soon. I’m also going to assume you’ve read The Light Series because I’m not sure why you would follow my blog if you didn’t like my writing enough to read my books—unless you happen to be related to me I want to now address what I should have addressed last year—the Awakening Series ..read more

The Release of Gifted
Jacqueline Brown

I am thrilled to announce that Gifted, the sequel to Awakening, is now available in Paperback and will be available as an ebook on Saturday (6/12). I did not intend for these two formats to release at different times, but I guess after now seven novels and a children’s book/coloring book I still don’t have the timing down—maybe when I get to eight I’ll do it right Though since it took me a full year to put Gifted out (way too long in my opinion!!!) it’s a wonder I remembered how to publish a book at all. I’ve been debating whether or not to blame covid for this book taking me longer than any ..read more

“If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” This is one of my very favorite quotes from one of my very favorite Saints. Mother Teresa was not known in her early life for being particularly extraordinary. Our priest told a story this past Sunday about how even after Mother Teresa had joined the Sisters of Loreto, a Bishop remarked that he would not even put her in charge of the Sacristy. Which simply means he didn’t have a lot of faith in her or think she could handle even the smallest of responsibilities. This was how her life as a religious sister began—in a completely or ..read more

Video of Extraordinary
Jacqueline Brown

When I started writing I made a deal with God—I would write the stories, but He would have to do everything else. I wonder sometimes what He thinks of us. Probably similar to how I look upon my own children with love and care and general amusement. As I have continued on this writing journey, He has kept His end of the bargain. When there is a need for someone (even if I don’t realize there’s a need), they appear. The Holy Spirit truly has this under control. His role is most obvious to me at the moment in Extraordinary, my little children’s book. I wrote it because the illustrator appeared i ..read more
