Podcast cover art seems to be one of the most stressful parts of starting a podcast. So much is riding on the final outcome – and many feel the wrong decisions could make or break the success of a new show. We often hear the same questions over and over about podcast cover art, as podcasters close in on their launch days. So, let’s settle these debates once and for all. Should I use my photo in my podcast cover art? Many people start a podcast to gain notoriety. (Sorry – it’s not that big of a secret!) So, the first instinct is to put their face or a photo of themselves right there on the cove ..read more

Having an interview show is by far the most labor-intensive type of show for one reason: the guests. It’s always difficult to manage other people, but when you’re a podcaster creating content, managing more than one guest, let alone 4 per month, can sometimes feel like herding cats. As a result, the guest experience you’re giving may not be as smooth as it could be. And when guest experiences aren’t smooth, the person being interviewed can often be left wondering if your interview was the best use of their time. We know you don’t want that. Your readers will also be more motivated to click pla ..read more

5 New Year’s Resolutions You’ll Want To Keep This Year

For a really long time there, I wasn’t much into resolutions. With my attention span, I’m over whatever I promised to do within about 2 weeks, no matter how good for me it is. The older I get, the more I find that having a certain focus is beneficial, at least for me personally.  I have also never shied away from creating business and podcasting intentions. The word intention, to me, means that I have a full commitment to doing it, but there’s wiggle room, room for error, that my heart’s in the right place, and that I COULD be mostly there simply from wanting it.  Sadly, that doesn’t work on d ..read more

Every podcaster needs a website. Whether you believe this to be true, you can trust us – after all, we are Podcast Websites. We are the types of people who believe a strong website leads to strong relationships with your listeners and become that audio influencer in your niche. A strong website works FOR you to help achieve your goals. Having been a website designer for a while, I have seen what I like to call “under the skirt” of hundreds of websites. SO many podcasters make the same mistakes, over and over again – easy to spot for someone like me, and never even considered for someone who ha ..read more

This year, one of the things we are MOST thankful for is our ever-growing connection in the podcasting industry. We’ve had enormous fun getting to know our fellow podcasting service providers as well as podcasters and experts in the small business arena, people who without hesitation gave us a YES! when asked if they’d like to partner with us and offer some of their expertise in our new Podcast Success Academy. We are humbled by their enthusiasm and always grateful for their friendship. And frankly, amazed at their knowledge and expertise, including the amazing value they’ve allowed us to offe ..read more

Every year, the Rebel Base Media team turns out in full force for Podcast Movement, the annual conference that brings podcasters from all over the world into one amazing place for almost a week of learning, networking and partying. In 2018, the team and I were silver sponsors of the event and enjoyed spending time at our Podcast Websites and Poductivity booths. In 2019, we’ll be doing even more, but one thing will never change: our goal for each Podcast Movement is to design – and give away – the best looking t-shirts at the event. And we do, every year. 2018 was no different – with people lin ..read more

Usually, self-diagnosis is a no-no. Especially medically. Or psychologically. But in the case of your website, it’s totally ok – IF you know what symptoms you’re looking for. After years of working in design and branding consulting, we at Podcast Websites have created the perfect DIY system for testing your own website. This system is the very same one I used on my web clients – the very same one I used on Fortune 500 companies, and the very same one I use on your colleagues and peers. And now you can use it, too. Once your website analysis is complete, you will be able to either: make the cha ..read more

In late 2014 I sat in my home office pondering my future as the owner of a design, brand and digital agency here in the UK. A week earlier I’d published my own podcast for the first time, having been the co-host on a show for over a year prior. As I sat in my office I remember thinking to myself that at some point, I wanted to work in podcasting full time. Less than two months later I’d started building Podcast Websites with Kieran, our CTO and John Lee Dumas. The day that we launched Podcast Websites into beta, February 18th 2015, Kieran and I sat in my home office and sketched out a vision f ..read more

Note: This post is also available at https://www.captivate.fm/hello. I started my first podcast in 2013. It was a DC Comics podcast and it got me hooked on the medium. The excitement never lets up; every day is new and after producing over 700 episodes, I still feel the same way about podcasting. But let me ask you a question: Are you like me? Are you excited about podcasting, too? I’m not talking about the industry, here. Are you excited about your podcast? Do you give it the care, attention and love needed to nurture it and allow it to flourish, growing into the success that you dream, wait ..read more

In early 2015, when we decided to build our Podcast Websites platform, brand and service we made the decision to be the one-stop shop, all-in-one service for podcasters looking to build their audio brand online. Because of that, we also made the decision to become a fully fledged podcasting hosting platform with built-in media hosting, podcast download stats and publishing tools. With our server infrastructures, download stats and publishing tools we’ve helped so many podcasters start and become audio influencers in their niche since then. As with any startup, especially one that has no ventur ..read more
