While today’s announcement that a successor to the Nintendo Switch is officially in production and due to be announced within the next year, Nintendo’s fiscal results for the year ending March 2024 still have plenty of other interesting tidbits to look at. In terms of software, there aren’t any significant changes to the company’s top performing game list but Nintendo does note that 31 games overall sold over 1 million units in the fiscal year – 20 from Nintendo and 11 from third parties. These include newcomers like Princess Peach: Showtime (1.2 million units) and Mario vs. Donkey Kong’s rema ..read more

A leak suggests a new Kirby or Mario Party title could be in the works

When comparing to the past few years, it’s fair to say that 2024 has been quite slow in terms of Nintendo content. Most of the year’s lineup has been ports and remakes, so needless to say, when rumors start to circle about new games on the horizon, it’s exciting. Notably, a known leaker dropped a hint today that might suggest a new entry in the Kirby or Mario Party series is on the way.  The information provided is pretty minimal as is to be expected, in the original Tweet from the prominent leaker Midori states that Nintendo is working on a game with the codename “Banquet.” While it may ..read more

Nintendo Wire
by Jennifer Burch
23h ago
Raid Hour (also referred to as Legendary Raid Hour) started as an experiment in March 2019. Initially called Legendary Lunch Hour, Niantic set aside an hour on Wednesdays for Pokémon GO Trainers to find 5-Star (Legendary) Raids easier by increasing the appearance rates. After further testing, Raid Hour was renamed and rescheduled to evenings (typically, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. your local time). Since then, Raid Hour has been a near-weekly event in Pokémon GO. There have been instances of Raid Hour being canceled due to technical issues (September 18th, 2019) and being rescheduled later, as well as ca ..read more

Impressions – Hades II Early Access is my new go-to for killing time
Nintendo Wire
by Ricky Berg

In 2020 I would have called Hades the rare kind of game that so successfully interweaves its gameplay, narrative, art direction, and voice acting (among other things) that it’d be impossible to single out any one as its strongest element. That’s not to say my opinion on those qualities has changed. Rather, Hades II has met those same standards of excellence, making the feat a little less “rare” and paving the way for us all to obsess over the Underworld once again.  These claims come after spending just shy of twenty hours combined with the sequel’s Technical Test and Early Access launch ..read more

Nintendo demolishes over 8500 Yuzu repositories in massive DMCA take down

by Peter Glagowski

Earlier this year, Nintendo was able to successfully get the Yuzu Switch emulator removed from the original GitHub repository it was distributed from. While that was a done and dusted legal case and the emulator’s creators were put out of business, the old axiom about the internet remains true: once it’s online, it’s there forever. That isn’t stopping Nintendo from trying, however. As reported by TorrentFreak, Nintendo wiped out 8,535 Yuzu repositories on GitHub this week. Going with a scorched Earth approach, Nintendo filed a DMCA against GitHub itself, specifically targeting any instance of ..read more
