Half-Life 2’s vehicle levels suck, and it’s time we all admit it
PCGamesN
by James Osborne

Thankfully, in 2024, we’re broadly all enlightened enough to recognize Half-Life 2 as a genre-defining modern FPS. Generally, in the decades since its release, its entirely deserved status as one of the greatest games of all time (not to mention one of the most influential) has arguably obscured some critical judgment of Valve’s creation. Forgotten Capcom sci-fi shooter is about to be delisted from Steam
PCGamesN

It’s funny what a sudden delisting can do to you. There are games out there - games you’ve maybe never heard of, or perhaps thought about playing but never found the time for - and once you find out they’re being pulled from Steam, possibly forever, you’re hit with a sense of urgency. Inspired by the likes of Dead Space and Gears of War, one overlooked shooter published by Capcom is about to vanish from Valve’s store. If you’ve never tried it, and you’re worried about missing out forever, you can get it now for cheap, but you don’t have long. Continue reading Forgotten Capcom sci-fi shooter i ..read more

The mechanical keyboard switch guide
PCGamesN
by Edward Chester
2h ago
At the heart of any mechanical keyboard are the items that give them their name: the mechanical keyswitches. They get that name because they offer an individually sprung switch for each key, rather than using a cheaper type of switch that uses squishy rubber domes to spring back up. They're easier to press, more responsive, and far more durable than rubber domes switches, but they do come with the downside that there are dozens of options to choose from. Worry not, though, as our mechanical keyboard switch guide will explain all. Once you've learned everything you need to know about mech ..read more

The Roman Empire meets Valheim in this new co-op survival sim
PCGamesN

By all accounts the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, otherwise known as the Varian Disaster, was not a great time to be Roman legionary in Germany. Three whole Roman legions were rent asunder in a brutal battle, scattering the survivors to the four winds. That's where new co-op survival simulator Lost Legions steps in, putting you in the role of one of those legionaries as you attempt to keep going in a world that understandably isn't a fan of you being there. New medieval RPG’s daily updates turn weak Steam reviews around
PCGamesN
by Reid McCarter

Though the most anticipated medieval simulation game out this week is likely Manor Lords, the recently launched Bellwright has plenty of eyes on it as well. A combination of action, strategy, RPG game, and city builder that calls to mind Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord or Valheim, Bellwright came out in Early Access last Tuesday April 23 and was immediately met with disappointment, largely centered on the idea that the game simply wasn't ready yet, even as a work in progress. Since then, though, Bellwright's reception has started to turn around, with player numbers and reviews climbing steadily ..read more

If you had a time machine and went back about ten years to tell people at the height of the World of Warcraft craze that BlizzCon was being cancelled with no definitive timetable hinting at its return, people would probably look at you like you'd been drinking too much Badlands Bourbon. However here in the current day, Blizzard is cancelling BlizzCon 2024, leaving only a tease that it will return at some point in the upcoming years. Create your own species in new Spore like evolution simulator
PCGamesN
by Alex McHugh

Alright, let's get this bit out of the way. Adapt looks a lot like the planetary parts of Spore. I know it, you know it, and I'm sure the developer knows it too. The promise of evolving and guiding a species through the aeons was something that sold itself to tons of us, but that promise has never quite been fulfilled. Now, Adapt has arisen from the primordial soup to take the evolutionary crown, and it's looking quite crown-worthy indeed.
