Manor Lords dev shuts down concern that new portraits are made by AI

While it may not be achieving the dizzying player counts it was when it first hit Steam, Manor Lords continues to tick over very nicely indeed. The medieval strategy game does have a big update on the horizon though that could see a few more players return. However, after teasing what was to come in the update earlier this week, Manor Lords’ lead dev has had to do something I’m sure he didn’t expect: deny that some of its new content is made by AI. There is a deluge of tactical extraction shooters flooding Steam right now, but at least Level Zero Extraction is moving away from the typical milsim aesthetic and throwing a bunch of freaky aliens at you instead. However, if you were planning to jump into the game on day one when it launches in Steam Early Access in August, you’ll have to ever so slightly change your plans, as the developers have pushed the launch back in order to avoid some rival “heavy hitters.” Continue reading Tarkov rival delays early access launch to dodge “heavy hitters” MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best FPS games, Best multip ..read more

Mortuary Assistant publisher’s terrifying new horror game hits Steam

Sylvio, a first person horror game series that debuted back in 2015, is among the best indie entries to the genre. Endearingly strange and genuinely creepy, the first two Sylvio games focused on solving puzzles, occasionally shooting monsters with a glorified potato gun, and deciphering messages from the dead by scanning through static drenched recordings of the kind ghost hunters love to collect from crumbling old buildings. It's been nearly seven years since Sylvio 2 came out, though, which suggested that creator Stroboskop had moved on from the series. Fortunately, that isn't the case, as ..read more

One of the best building games of recent years is Urbek: City Builder. Urbek debuted in 2022 and has gone on to achieve a 91% or Very Positive user rating on Steam, but it's also never really received the level of widespread attention it deserves. With the disappointing launch of Cities: Skylines 2 this year and Frostpunk 2 coming out later than originally anticipated, now's as good a time as any to look into building games that were looked over in the past. And, with Urbek: City Builder currently discounted to a very low price on Steam, that's truer than ever. Continue reading Urbek, the mos ..read more

When it comes to delivering a competitive experience in an FPS game, skill-based matchmaking is one of the most important components and one that has to be well-implemented. However, SBMM’s spread into the unranked lobbies of Call of Duty games has been one of the series most controversial talking points for a few years now. Well, if you’re one of those hoping to see it removed from the casual CoD experience in Black Ops 6 and beyond, keep dreaming, because Activision is back once again with a new post justifying its decision making. Back in 2021, The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante came out, providing audiences with an unique game that blends strategy and RPG game style decision making with the story focused design of a visual novel, all presented through an eye catching hand illustrated aesthetic. This approach was a success, garnering a 91% or Very Positive user rating on Steam. And now, years later, a sequel has been announced with The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, which appears to expand further on what made its predecessor stand out and should appeal to fans of Crusader Kings 3's dynastic squabbling or Penti ..read more
