KNEE REPLACEMENT X-RAY (NOT MINE)
As a reminder and for those who have jumped right into this page about knee replacement, the story of my knee began in early 2018 when I tore the meniscus in my left knee. Of all things, I was swimming but pushed off too hard from a turn and felt it pop. Knee Consultation 10 May 2023
I was referred to a hospital run clinic for a consultation about my knee. It had been over 5 years since the meniscus was torn and after changing to a more competent GP, it was time to get this checked out again. I had also dealt with other medical issues since then and m ..read more

Parathyroid
The job of the parathyroid glands are to control calcium in the body. When an adenoma (benign growth) forms it causes the parathroid glands to misfire by releasing too much calcium into the body beause it can no longer judge the correct amount needed.
Noy only is it important to take enough calcium daily depending on age, it is even more im ortnant as the parathyroid is ridding the body of calcium and thi will cause bone density loss and problems with bones and teeth. Many people think that because they have calcium oxalate stones that they need to avois calcium intak ..read more

https://youtu.be/D6vO2ASsQaU Above is a link to a YouTube video that explains this procedure. Whilst this is keyhole surgery and lesser invasive it is still regarded as major surgery. PCNL Surgery (planned for 12 April 2022)
It has been a long and painful journey to get here and I am welcoming this surgery as a hope to rid me of the pain I have been in for almost 2 years. It has been established that it is nothing to do from hip replacement but it has taken all this time to find out and treat the source of the pain. We will see if any pain lingers after recovery but if that is the case ..read more

This phone consultation was to go over my condition and medical history. From this conversation an appointment was made to see her in person 3 days later.

Back Pain
After the last physio appointment on August 19th 2020 my pain stepped up and my activity stepped down. I was facing pain every day and finding it difficult to be at work and on my feet for 8 hours a day. As I mentioned earlier I had turned into someone who had not taken a single sick day in 6 years until my hip replacement into someone who was struggling to be at work.
The pain was excruciating and almost unbearable. The pain was just below waist level at my right lower side and would sometimes graduate to my shoulder blades or move towards my abdomen. After the last physio I ..read more

Physiotherapy (different clinic) 1st Appointment April 22 2021
This session was a lot of questions about my condition and pain. There was a lot of history of tests and I linked the physio herself to my Pocket Health Account so she can see results. She did comment, as many other have done, about the fact that I am flexible not just for my age but for any age. I can still touch my toes (in fact I can get palms down on the floor) and my range of movement is extremely good. She did all the testing of range of movement to ascertain if any of those movements caused pain. She did massage the area an ..read more

Exercise
Due to not being able to swim and feeling that I needed exercise other than walking, I purchased this recumbent stationery exercise bike in order to keep my hip mobile and also in the hope of strengthening my bad knee. It is the best thing ever for keeping everything in good working order. I got this one from Amazon.ca
Covid 19
I was supposed to have my annual check up with the surgeon in his office but due to the pandemic it was conducted over the phone.
Although my anniversary date was April 1, 2020 I could not get an appointment until May 4, 2020 despite arranging it in Jan ..read more
