From Fiji, a country in the South Pacific and an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It's famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture. Many thanks Kadyn! Located on the southern flank of the Rock of Monaco, Rainier III's Zoological Gardens were established in 1954 by Prince Rainier III. The gardens are home to nearly 250 animals representing about 50 species: exotic birds, turtles, caimans, hippopotamuses, reptiles, primates and farm animals. None of the animals here were purchased! What makes Rainier III's Zoological Gardens unique is that their animals were all donated, or were abandoned or seized by customs. For nearly 35 years, the biggest draw in the one-hectare park has been the hippopotamus Pollux. The Zoological Gardens adopted Pollux ..read more

Listed as an historic monument, the Saint-Martin church of Layrac, in Lot-et-Garonne, takes place on a terrace overlooking the countryside, along the Gers. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries and consecrated by Pope Urban II, it takes the form of a very simple plan with a single very wide nave, an apse and a transept with short arms. The whole is also topped with a dome mounted on pendants and is considered a true masterpiece of 12th century Romanesque art. Layrac is located in Brulhois, a region in northern Gascony, and is located 10 kilometers south of Agen, in south-western France. T ..read more

According to the legend, the bridge was built in the 12th century by a young shepherd from Ardèche - Bénezet - who heard voices telling him to build a bridge in Avignon. The bridge was completed in 1185, creating the only place to cross the Rhône between Lyon and the Mediterranean sea. The bridge originally spanned approximately 900 meters and had 22 arches. It was dismantled in 1226, then rebuilt. It was later washed away several times by flood waters and rebuilt until it was abandoned in the 17th century. Today, all that remains are four arches and a chapel dedicated to Saint Nicolas. The b ..read more
