The National Parks On My Bucket List This Year
Let's Be Merry

A few months ago, I got to do something pretty extraordinary. I spent a few days in Southwest Utah, hiking in one of America’s top five national parks, Zion National Park. It was a journey I didn’t realize I needed until I was there. Does that ever happen to you? You plan a trip, maybe on a whim or at the last minute, (as I did), and you’re so in the mindset of go-go-go, that it’s not until you arrive at your destination, and have a moment to drink it all in, that you realize, oh this. This is what I’ve needed and what has been missing in my life. Spending a few days at Zion National Park was ..read more

There’s nothing I love more than hitting the road on a Friday afternoon for a weekend escape out of the city. And one of the best weekend getaways my husband and I took recently was to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in the heart of the Berkshires. While I have been to the Berkshires many times, this was the first time I spent the weekend in Pittsfield. I’m so glad I did because after a full weekend of exploring, I can say with complete confidence that this under-the-radar city in the Berkshires is about to take off. Why? Well, there are a few reasons I feel that Pittsfield, Massachusetts is about ..read more

How I Overcame My Fear of Flying
Let's Be Merry

For as long as I can remember, I have loved traveling and seeing new places. But seeing the world means getting on a plane, A LOT. That’s not so easy when you have a fear of flying or flight anxiety. The funny thing is that this phobia (technically called aviophobia) did not strike me until I was an adult. When I was young, I flew all the time without any issues. But in my mid-twenties, and then again when I turned 40,  I developed a pretty severe fear of flying. The phobia was debilitating. While it did not stop me from traveling, (It’s hard to do that when your job pretty much requires ..read more

October 2022: The Monthly Round-Up
Let's Be Merry
by Merry Lerner

I know I say this every year, but how is it October 2022 already?! October has always been one of my favorite months, and not just because it’s my birthday month or because we get to celebrate Halloween. Personally, I love October because I think it’s the best month to experience and enjoy the fall season. It’s not too hot or cold, and it’s that blissful time of year when NYC feels alive and pulsing, but not overwhelmed with crowds like when we hit the holiday season. There are so many things to do in October, whether it’s getting outdoors for some hiking and leaf peeping, or catching up on cu ..read more

The 7 Best Things to Do in Jackson Hole, Wyoming During Summer
Let's Be Merry

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is one of those places that has completely captured my heart. Maybe it’s because I’m older now and have a different appreciation for nature. Or maybe it’s just because Jackson Hole, Wyoming is so visually stunning. Whatever the reason, I’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t think that Jackson Hole, with its majestic backdrop of the Grand Teton Mountains, is anything less than spectacular. I first visited Jackson Hole when I was fifteen years old on a camping tour out west. While I’m sure the scenery made an impression on me back then, I was on a whirlwind tour whe ..read more

Looking For Your Next Blissful Vacation? It starts in Todos Santos, Mexico
Let's Be Merry

Sometimes you plan a trip and you don’t realize the magic that awaits you until you arrive. That is exactly the blissful experience my husband and I had when we recently visited Todos Santos in Baja Sur California, Mexico. We had never traveled to this part of Mexico before, even though the very popular tourist destination, Cabo is also on the Baja peninsula. My husband and I prefer to mostly travel to places off the beaten path, so the idea of Cabo, with its row of shiny hotels on a coastline where you can’t even swim, didn’t appeal to us. But the laidback surfer and artist vibe in Todos Sant ..read more
