One has to look no further than their local courts to confirm the fact that the average age of pickleball players is precipitously declining. More and more youth are learning the game and taking lessons – some of whom have taken tennis lessons previously – others embarking on a paddle/racquet journey for the first time.
At our local facility, we have been averaging approximately 25 home-school students during our recurring Thursday afternoon home-school clinic – with ages ranging from 7-14.

It’s confusing. No doubt about it. Various rules adhered to at your local courts are sometimes different than those bound by professionals at PPA Tour stops.
As you can imagine, these differences create confusion for those who tune in to a PPA Live Stream on YouTube or a professional PPA match televised on the Tennis Channel, FS1 or ESPN. Invariably, these PPA-only rules then get projected to the local courts by well-intentioned amateurs.
The Rules that Differ
The two biggest differences between rules that are followed by professionals on the PPA Tour and rules that apply to everyone else rela ..read more

It’s been exciting to watch the growth of pickleball over the past few years! It continues to be America’s fastest-growing sport. And why wouldn’t it be? It’s fun, social, easy to learn, provides health benefits, and is great for all ages.
Pickleball Has Become a Household Name
We started this blog in 2015, but it was before pickleball was officially “cool”. Over the years, we’ve seen many changes as the sport has evolved – from a recreational sport primarily played by seniors to a professional sport paying athletes of all ages a huge salary.
Pickleball started in 1965 but didn’t become a hou ..read more

I was given a ladies’ pickleball bad to review from Georgie & Lou. Georgie & Lou has been in the pickleball space for a few years. Their bags are known to be stylish and of excellent quality. I can attest to this!
The Dakota Bag
The bag I received is called the Dakota. It is black with a blue stripe and white strap. Each of the classic Georgie & Lou bags is named after one of the owner’s daughters. The Dakota bag is named after Mimi’s youngest daughter who is beautiful on the outside and strong on the inside. The dimensions of this bag are 12″ W x 11″ H x 5″ D, which is a little ..read more

Pickleball, like other sports, has a few unique rules. 5 basic rules specific to pickleball are the double bounce, when to stay out of the Non-Volley Zone, where to serve the ball, how to serve the ball, and how to keep score and rotate.
While there are many different rules in pickleball, the following are important to know as a beginner before venturing on the court.
Legal Serves
There are two different ways to serve that are considered legal in pickleball – a volley or drop serve. Either serve must be executed underhand.
The volley serve is a serve that a player hits without letting the ba ..read more

Ahhh, the sound of pickleballs being hit on the courts in the early morning hours. To some, it’s a sweet sound calling them to the courts and getting them excited for another day of play. To others, it’s painful to their ears.
As the sport has grown in popularity over recent years, the demand for courts has risen. Municipalities and HOA communities are beginning to add courts. However, with the new courts comes the noise the sport makes. For those who enjoy pickleball, it can be a comforting sound. And for those who don’t play, but live near courts, the frequent sound can be deafening. That ..read more
