he 16th Women’s EHF EURO takes place from 28 November until 15 December 2024 and features 24 teams on the starting grid, eight more than at previous editions. Apart from the three co-hosting nations and defending champions Norway, 20 teams booked their ticket during the Qualifiers, which wrapped up earlier this month. The organising rights for the 2029 and 2031 editions of the IHF Men’s World Championship and the 2029 and 2031 editions of the IHF Women’s World Championship have been awarded during the IHF Council meeting taking place in Créteil, France, Tuesday, on 16 April 2024. Six teams have earned their tickets for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through qualifications tournaments. In the Olympic Qualification Tournament #1, Hungary and Sweden were the two qualified teams, with the hosts securing three wins out of three matches and placing first, which means they go directly into Pot 1 in the draw which will take place on Tuesday. Legendary Croatian right wing Ivan Cupic played his last match at EHF Champions League in Montpellier, where RK Zagreb lost in a knock-out battle against French vice-champions. The 38-years old lefthander will end his professional career next summer. Cupic had an amazing journey since 2002, when he began playing at home team RK Metkovic Jambo.
